Warrior Wellness Monthly

During Easter season, we are reminded of the profound themes of Hope, Joy and the power of Faith. This time of year encourages us to reflect on the resilience of the Human Spirit and The Light that can emerge even in our darkest moments.

At Warrior Spirit, we believe in the importance of supporting one another, especially those who may be struggling with mental health challenges. Easter symbolizes Rebirth and The Promise of brighter days ahead. It’s an opportunity to reach out, offer kindness and remind those around us that they are not alone in their journey.

May this season inspire hope and strengthen our bonds as we walk each other home.

Powerhouse Patriots: A Community of Healing Through Endurance Sports

Warrior Spirit is excited to announce its partnership with Powerhouse Patriots, enabling us to collaboratively offer more services to veterans and address both mental and physical health through endurance sports.

Q&A with John D. Zepeda, President of Powerhouse Patriots and retired Master Sergeant E7 of the Texas Air National Guard.

What inspired you to start Powerhouse Patriots?

As a veteran myself, I found a mental release from the daily grind and stress through endurance sports. Structured training and racing challenged me to rethink my fitness goals. A year later, as I became a competitive triathlete, I noticed that the endurance community was largely underserved. I wanted to create an environment where people could learn, train, and build fellowship with like-minded friends and clients. After 13 years of trial and error, I established Powerhouse Multisport, an endurance coaching concept aligned with my vision to support current military members, veterans, and first responders. My goal was to give back to those who have selflessly served their country and communities. Our hands-on approach offers mental healing through endurance sports.

What personal experiences have influenced your commitment to this cause?

I’ve often been approached by veterans and first responders wanting to train but lacking the means to do so. Knowing the benefits of structured training and the importance of community, I would offer free training sessions whenever possible. Many expressed a desire for racing singlets or training tops so they could join us at local races. Our team tent was always welcoming and filled with positive energy, but I felt compelled to do more.

What is the core mission of Powerhouse Patriots?

Our mission is to inspire current and separated military members and first responders to achieve wellness by engaging them in endurance sports within a comprehensive and structured community.

What types of fitness training do you offer specifically for veterans and first responders?

We focus on endurance sports, offering tailored classes designed to help participants become stronger before they go longer. Our training includes outdoor group sessions for open water swimming, running, and cycling, as well as indoor sessions for swimming, yoga, strength training, cycling, and Hyrox. We also host monthly group socials to foster community.

How do you see the organization growing in the next few years?

With a strong community buy-in, we aim to secure larger donors and grants. Our end goal is to have 50 Patriots at our current facility and to expand by opening more locations both within and outside our region.

How do you maintain your own health and well-being while managing a nonprofit?

I believe that leading by example helps our clients achieve their goals. I train and race alongside them, which keeps me committed to my own fitness. While I can't participate in every race, I do my best to stay active and engaged.

How can interested individuals or organizations reach out to learn more or get involved?

For those interested in learning more or getting involved, please email us at phpatriots24@gmail.com or reach out to me directly at 281-787-8285. Powerhouse Patriots is located at 500 W. NASA Parkway, Suite A, Website, TX 77598.

At Warrior Spirit, we are deeply grateful for the incredible contributions of Brittany Cruz and her business, Kingdom Creations. Founded in 2023, Kingdom Creations began as a balloon business and expanded in 2024 to include t-shirts, following a divine inspiration that Brittany received in a dream.

Brittany's journey into t-shirt creation started with a silhouette machine she had for five years. Despite initial challenges, a moment of prayer and guidance led her to craft her first shirt for a friend in kids ministry. From that humble beginning, she has grown Kingdom Creations into a beloved provider of both balloon decor and custom shirts.

The most rewarding part of Brittany's work is seeing the joy on people's faces when they receive their personalized creations. Her dedication and passion shine through in every piece she makes, bringing smiles and spreading positivity.

We are proud to partner with Brittany and Kingdom Creations for our Warrior Spirit t-shirts. Her talent and heartfelt approach make a meaningful impact, and we look forward to continuing this wonderful collaboration. Thank you, Brittany, for your creativity and commitment to excellence!
