County Upcoming Events

Washington County Fair needs senior age (9th-12th grade) 4-H members to volunteer to help with the 2024 WCF Shrimp Boil on April 4, 2024 starting at 5:30pm at Silver Wings Ballroom. The WCF committee will provide pizza for all members who volunteer.

The proceeds from this event are designated to fund the Washington County Fair scholarship that is given to students their Senior year in High School. Furthermore, this is a fantastic 4-H Record Book Opportunity for Community Service. As an added bonus, the 4-H clubs that have members volunteer will split the tips at the end of the evening.

If you are the parent of a graduating Senior or Junior in High School, be sure to have your child volunteer for this event. They very well could be applying for WCF scholarships either this Spring or next Spring.

Please fill out the form below if you are able to volunteer! If you are submitting for more than one 4-H member, please submit the form individually for each member.

Texas 4-H Livestock, Equine and Poultry Ambassador Program applications are now open! Texas 4-H Youth Livestock and Agriculture is coming off of another incredible year of programming in 2023, and we want you to be a part of the fun in 2024! Through seven unique program offerings in 2023, we trained our largest class of Texas 4-H Livestock, Equine and Poultry Ambassadors to date. We feel confident that students left each of our leadership experiences with a better understanding of the industry, agriculture production, and the political world surrounding agriculture.

If you are interested and eligible, we hope you will consider applying to be a Texas 4-H Livestock, Equine or Poultry Ambassador in 2024. Our hope is when you return from one of our short courses, you will feel equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to serve your community and the industry you are passionate about. Specific details regarding each program can be found at www.texasyouthlivestock.com under the Ambassador Programs tab.

Applications are now open to senior-level (9-12 graders in the 2024-2025 academic year) 4-H members for the Texas 4-H Water Ambassadors Program.

The 4-H Water Ambassadors Program will select up to 30 students for a minimum 12-month term of service. Those selected will participate in the 7-day Tier I 4-H2O Leadership Academy (tour) June 9-15, 2024, which includes hands-on experiential learning and covers a wide range of important water issues. Over the next year, water ambassadors commit to delivering at least 40 hours of education and service. Students will also engage in continuing education opportunities to broaden their understanding of water and equip them to share their knowledge with their local communities, clubs, schools, etc.
