Major Show Happenings

In order to be eligible to exhibit livestock at ANY spring major livestock junior show, you MUST validate that animal (tag placed in their ear, DNA collected, and tattoo/identification number placed or identified) by the validation committee by the specific date required by the state. This process also requires exhibitors to claim sole ownership of their animal if it's a heifer, or joint ownership for siblings for market animals, and said animal must remain in the care of the exhibitor's family throughout the feeding period for that animal. If you are hoping to exhibit an animal in any of the spring major shows (Fort Worth, San Angelo, San Antonio, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, or Rodeo Austin), you MUST validate them. This is the LAST CHANCE to order tags for validation for the spring shows. Make sure to order a tag to receive additional information on validation!

Southern Classic will offer individualized learning opportunities for Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Swine, Rabbits, & Poultry.

NEW for 2025- our workshops & show will be condensed into one day, Saturday, December 13. Exhibitors will still have the option to check in on Friday evening, December 12.

The application will open November 1 and close February 15!

Interviews will take place in College Station April 24 -26, 2026. 

Congratulations to all of our 2025 Washington County Fair Exhibitors! Since we have our fair in September, our 4-H clubs aren't able to host meetings the first month of enrollment for the 4-H year! Did you know that October is the first month our community clubs begin to meet? So, it's important to start attending your 4-H meetings NOW if you'd like to participate in the Washington County Fair in 2026! Here's a breakdown of what those Junior Livestock Division rules look like for the Washington County Fair:

6. Any youth that is interested in showing in the Washington County Fair must be in the third (3rd-12th) grade, minimum age 8 and maximum age 18 in accordance with 4-H Rules. All third graders wanting to show in the Washington County Fair will need to note that some projects will need to be purchased while in the second (2nd) grade. Upon the purchase and start of the project, these members are required to attend the mandatory weigh-in/tag-in programs and educational programs relating to their projects.

7. 4 – H and FFA members must have joined a Washington County 4-H Club or FFA Chapter by the ownership deadline of their Fair project and must attend 50 % of their 4 - H Club or FFA Chapter meetings. Exhibitors must show their project under a 4-H Club or FFA Chapter that they are a member in good standing of at the time of the fair. (NOTE – Any Exhibitor that joins FFA at the beginning of a high school year must show under 4-H and must have attended at least 50% of their 4-H Club meetings unless they were an active Junior FFA member.)

8. Exhibitors are required to meet attendance requirements of the club or chapter entered under.
