From the Leadership Committee

On December 2, an expanded Leadership Committee met in the lovely Fairfax home of one of our members to make plans for an exciting 2018!  New program ideas, an invigorated membership campaign and novel approaches to communication were all on the agenda for our quick-paced and fun-filled day.

As is often the case when TTN women gather, we celebrated the shared sense of purpose, and made new friends in the process.  We hope all of you will experience the power and pleasure of TTN women learning, sharing and smiling together in the coming year.

And what a year it will be!  We'll kick off on Saturday, February 10 with a presentation on finding your personal style by photographer and image expert Cyndy Porter with TTN member Nancy Reller.  This is not only a good time to consider refreshing your 'look' but also the ideal time to invite a friend or two who might be interested in joining TTN.

A number of "Spotlight" programs highlighting the DC region's treasures are also in the works -- consider joining us at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Freer and Sackler Galleries, or Tudor Place, one of Georgetown's most delightful "hidden gems."   Details will follow.

We'll also be offering one of TTN's valuable Signature programs On Resilience, which will kick off in March with a workshop followed by six intimate conversational evenings for those who wish to take a deeper dive into developing this essential skill.

By all means, join us for our upcoming programs and make 2018 a year of growth and friendship!
Happy New Year!

TTN Visits the National Air and Space Museum

TTN members and friends at the
National Air and Space Museum
On December 5, TTN women and friends enjoyed a first-hand look at milestones in aviation and space history - from the Wright Brothers
Flyer to the Lunar Rover - during a fascinating tour by docent Mike Deitchman.  We also learned quite a bit about women's contributions to the advancement of aviation technology. Did you know, for instance, that there was a Wright sister ?  Katharine Wright, the youngest of five siblings and the only college graduate in the family, played an integral role in her brothers' success.  Other female pioneers, including a British motorcycle enthusiast who created a simple but critical fighter jet part that helped Britain eventually thwart the Luftwaffe, were highlighted during this fascinating morning!

As always, we welcome your suggestions for Washington area attractions you would like to visit with fellow TTNers!

Wednesday, March 7
7-9 p.m.
5607 Cromwell Drive, Bethesda, MD

The focus of "Re-wiring" is on figuring out "what's next," both opportunities and obstacles as we navigate the years after fifty.  Some women are looking for new employment opportunities, some for volunteer opportunities, and some are just exploring.  We will agree on a focus for the conversation when we meet. We meet periodically and the people who come are never quite the same.  Some come once, some repeatedly, and others skip a while and then return.  A light dinner is served.
