Washington APEX Clients Win Over $800 Million in Government Contracts

When Washington businesses decide to pursue government contracting, they step into a competitive arena—one that rewards preparation, persistence, and expertise. Last year, those businesses proved just how powerful they can be.

Washington APEX Accelerator clients secured more than $800 million in government contracts and subcontracts, creating jobs, strengthening local economies, and delivering innovative solutions to agencies across the nation.

From family-owned construction firms to veteran-led tech companies to emerging entrepreneurs earning their first subcontract, each win contributed to a powerful statewide impact. These contracts mean more work for local suppliers, more dollars circulating in Washington communities, and a stronger foundation for future growth.

As we celebrate this $800 million milestone, we’re proud of our role—but even more proud of the remarkable businesses that made it happen. And to every business considering the government marketplace—your success could be next, and Washington APEX is here to help you get there. News from the Washington APEX SBIR Program

Small business innovation research (SBIR) funding is available to small businesses working on cutting-edge technology. Your Washington APEX Accelerator SBIR Program can provide Phase 0 type assistance with DOD, DOT, NASA and Homeland Security.

Upcoming SBIR/STTR Releases

$4 Billion in Research & Development Awards on hold

The popular Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program that fuels small business innovations is currently waiting for reauthorization from Congress. Program advocates predict that the reauthorization will likely come before the end of the calendar year through the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). In the meantime, agencies are unable to issue awards under the program, and solicitations have stalled. However, current awardees should not be impacted, and now is a perfect time for firms interested in the funding to research the topics and government needs.

DoD has issued an updated list of critical technologies and your APEX Accelerator is standing by to support your efforts to discover opportunities for future funding.
