HAGERSTOWN, MD (August 22, 2018) – Governor Hogan announced the Rural Legacy Program awards for the 2019 fiscal year at today's Board of Public Works meeting. The Washington County Land Preservation staff from the Department of Planning and Zoning was on hand to accept an award in the amount of $2,301,545. These funds will be used to acquire conservation easements in the Rural Legacy Area near Antietam Battlefield. The easements will also provide benefits to the water quality surrounding the Potomac River.

Washington County has received 21 awards totaling more than $22 million since the Governor began distributing these awards.
