Use the New Orientation Video at Your Lodge

Rick Gathen

Grand Lodge Membership & Marketing

We have worked to restructure and shorten the Orientation video, making the messaging more concise and well organized. It’s been nine years since the orientation video was changed...

The BPOE continues to strive to attract a younger and more diverse membership. The restructured orientation video better reflects those goals along with our progress.

The restructured orientation video can be found on Elks.org. Go to the Manuals menu, select Membership Guide, and scroll down to section two—Orientation & Initiation.

President Greg Balint's Message

Congratulations to all the newly installed or soon to be installed lodge officers across our state. I have had the privilege to attend four officer installations and one inaugural ball to date. All included one common element. The incoming Exalted Ruler, without exception, laid out some goals for the Lodge to accomplish during the coming year.

The goal could be related to increasing membership....

President Elect Bob Walker's Message

WOW! I can’t believe how fast April came roaring up on us. Now that all, or nearly all the lodges have installed their new officers for the year, it’s time to get to work. Lodge budgets are due for a vote soon. Take care in preparing your lodge budgets and be realistic with your numbers. We all know how difficult this can be at times. The Executive Committee spent weeks reviewing and modifying and...

Vice President Scott Rainey's Message

Well, it has been a busy time this past month with all the lodges conducting officer installations. I have seen a lot of collaboration between the officers and the members. I hope it continues throughout the year. I look forward to working with everyone as you commence your fraternal year.

Our Kids!

The WSEA Therapy Program for Children

We would like you to meet Luke!

Our son Luke was born with a class 4 lip and tongue tie. At 4.5 months old we had a procedure done to revise his lip and tongue tie which changed our lives. He went from only drinking a 2 or 3 oz bottle per feeding and screaming constantly between feedings, to drinking 6+ ounces each feeding and became a happy baby. We were put in touch with an occupational therapist who works on oral motor therapy through the Elks of Washington by the doctor who performed the lip and tongue tie procedure. The therapist came to our home once a week and worked with Luke to teach him to latch properly to the bottle and to help him not have developmental delays. Our therapist was so knowledgeable and informative. He taught me new things to work with Luke on my own each week.

Luke is now a 1-year-old and he is thriving! Our therapist didn't just stop after Luke was latching well to the bottle. He helped us transition to solid foods, assisted Luke with crawling and standing up. Luke's sister Harper and brother Jaxon have enjoyed being able to interact with our therapist during the visits, and I find them doing little things the therapist is doing to try to help Luke learn. You always hear "it takes a village", and we are so blessed that we were able to have someone help us with Luke for so long.

Thank you to the Elks of Washington for having a program like this available.
