Tacoma Spaceworks Makes Space for Creatives
The Spaceworks program in Tacoma, now celebrating its fifth year, can be described in many ways. It's a chance for artists to find space to display their work, it's a dynamic network of creative enterprise, it's a path for new businesses to create sustainable models, and an opportunity for property owners to fill their vacant storefronts and spaces. Over the years, Spaceworks itself has grown from matching up artists and their projects to Tacoma's vacant spaces, to a full-fledged platform for training and professional development for emerging creative entrepreneurs. Spaceworks has launched over 40 new businesses in the city of Tacoma, many of them focused on the arts. Read all about this innovative program here.
Starbucks Serves Up Original Content
Starbucks will start serving up more than coffee at their approximately 24,000 worldwide stores this month - for the first time the company will be creating original documentary content along with lattes.
"Upstanders" features ten stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things to create positive change in their communities.
Launched in the start of September, the content will feature written stories, videos, and podcasts, and be delivered through multi-platform distribution channels such as the Starbucks mobile app, Starbucks online and their in-store digital network, which potentially reaches millions of people, and their social media channels. It's part of a larger trend of brands creating original documentary content for audiences.Check it out here.

This powerful tool will allow production companies to find resident crew-members to hire and also allow our local community to promote themselves and their work to potential employers. And the great news is that you control your own profile - and it's absolutely FREE!
