150th Redwood County Fair

Our Sunktanka Wicayuhapi members brought horses to the 150th Annual Redwood County Fair. They competed in the 4-H Horse Show, winning many ribbons while showcasing their riding knowledge and horse skills. Tanyan Ecanunpi! Good job!

Dakota Wicohan also proudly displayed horse masks made by program youth in our horse regalia making workshop. The masks were on display inside the 4-H Exhibit Building for the whole weekend.

Our model horse, “Manny” was dressed in a full regalia set.

Wopida Tanka! to the gracious family and board members that volunteered their time and effort at the Lil’ Buds and Clover Buds Café food stands on Saturday during the fair.

MN Twins Native American Heritage Night 2023

32 members of Dakota Wicohan families took a trip to Target Field to watch the Minnesota Twins play against the Seattle Mariners on July 25th for Native American Heritage Night. We watched a performance of Native American singers, drummers, and dancers prior to the game. Twins lost, but we all ended up with a cool “Mni Sota” T-shirt!

Welcome Home, Beauty!!

On July 20th, Sunktanka Wicayuhapi members brought our new horse, Beauty back home! Beauty finished 90 days of training and she is now ready to ride and be used in our horse programming.
