Watauga County Public Library

Dear Readers,

I hope everyone has had a great start to the summer! We have lots to share as usual.

EXPANSION NEWS

We now have a new library expansion webpage that is linked from the library homepage. Check it out at www.wataugalibraryexpansion.org Thanks to all of our wonderful Capital Campaign Committee volunteers for the great work they have done. We have regular monthly meetings and our next one is Friday, July 19 at 10 am in our meeting room. These are open to the public if you’d like to join us. Please contact me with any questions.

AN EVENING WITH RON RASH FOR FREE

Save the date for a visit with New York Times bestselling author Ron Rash! He’ll be at the Appalachian Theatre on Wednesday, August 7 at 6 pm, with a book signing after the talk. His talk will focus on his latest work, The Caretaker. This title and numerous others will be available for sale in the front lobby. Ron’s visit is sponsored by the Friends of the Watauga County Public Library and the Richard T. Barker Friends of the University Libraries. The Library will close at 4:30 pm to allow our staff to attend.

SAVE THE DATE FOR THE FRIENDS 50TH ANNIVERSARY GALA

Our treasured Friends of the Library group will be celebrating 50 years on Saturday, September 21 from 11 am – 4 pm. We will have food (including ice cream and cake), music, dancing, children’s activities, tai chi, and a unique opportunity to obtain a commemorative stamp in their honor. We’ll have the celebration on the lawn, in the meeting room and parts of the parking lot. Get ready to party! The Library itself will be closed with the exception of the meeting room and bathrooms.
