"In a long life you react to the things that happen," Norwich artist Penelope Bennett, who recently passed away, shared in our 2019 Artist Profile of her. A key figure at Two Rivers Printmaking Studio in White River, Bennett's prints are in many major collections, in part because of her concern for the human condition. "Kosovo was just horrendous," she said. "One could do nothing about it, but you could do a piece of art about it to show your protest." | |

Must-Have Happy Ending
A very specific request from Emma’s mom – “I am always looking for books to read. They can be romantic (but not mushy), suspenseful (but not scary), historical (but not boring), and preferably available on audio. My last “must have” in a book is that it must end happily. I do not want to cry at the end of a book. I can get that watching the news!” – had the bookstore owners searching their vast knowledge of literature and creating a fabulous list of books, meeting this vast array of criteria, for us all to enjoy. (Episode 17, premiered 09.13.22)
Shelf Help Podcast is a collaboration between the Book Jam, a nonprofit designed to inspire readers; CATV/JAM Upper Valley media community; three Upper Valley bookstores: Yankee Bookshop in Woodstock, VT; the Norwich Bookstore in Norwich, VT; and Still North Books & Bar in Hanover, NH.

Carla Kimball is a long-time photographer, dancer, and emerging filmmaker. She is most interested in engaging viewers in a direct experience of her images and films. Recently, her exploration of stillness and movement has led her to project images and films on floating panels of fabric. Multiple projects have evolved from this inquiry including films of performers moving from panel to panel through natural landscapes as well as dancers moving through still photos projected onto the panels.
