Dear Erin,
In November 2023, Dr. Keith Christmon approached Mission 25 about conducting a medical mission to Cambodia. Cambodia desperately needs medical care, and so this offer was exciting!
We knew this would be an incredible way for Mission 25 to address multiple needs simultaneously.
People in rural parts of Cambodia struggle to access care, and there is a shortage of trained health personnel in rural areas. Many provinces lack basic medical supplies like antibiotics, medical equipment, and supplies. Finally, there’s significant inequality in healthcare access between rural and urban populations and different socioeconomic groups.
Lack of education, clean water, community development, and medical care has caused high rates of poverty, human trafficking, and unnecessary death. We sought to address as many of these issues as possible on this trip.
We successfully conducted a 16-day medical mission this summer across five provinces.
During this impactful trip, our international team of Americans and Cambodians:
- Treated and shared the gospel with over 1,000 individuals.
- Collaborated with more than 30 Cambodian pastors, doctors, nurses, and medical students to provide care, training, continuing education, and encouragement.
- Distributed over 1,500 first aid kits, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hygiene books, and anti-human trafficking resources.
- Provided training and large first aid kits, water filters, and audio bibles to eight churches and organizations.
Several vital objectives drove our efforts:
- Meeting tangible needs opens avenues for sharing Christ's love.
- Equipping local churches with first aid kits and training ensures they can continue providing care long after our departure.
- Encourage communities to recognize their local church as a source of support, enabling ongoing outreach for Jesus.
