Garrett Explains Episode 2

While insurance companies cover direct physical damage, they're not obliged to pay for loss of use. With rental car companies claiming "loss of business income" when customers are involved in an accident, and insurance companies refusing coverage, the decision isn't so cut-and-dried anymore.

With your help, we want to GIVE as much as we can to you and to local businesses and organizations.  And it only takes you a minute!  Here's how it works...

For EACH qualified referral (individual or business) you send our way:

  • You'll receive a $25 gift card to your choice of: Bellvale Farms Creamery, Viviano, Taco Hombre, Fratello, Warwick Thai, or Delancey's.  Or...
  • We'll make a $25 donation in YOUR name to the charity or organization of your choice!

Plus, EACH referral you send us equals an entry into our final drawing!  Next May, a  $1,000 donation  will be made in the winner's name to his or her charity of choice.

So please don't keep us a secret!  Take a minute to let your friends and family know the value you receive from SDI.

Break the Silence
Break the Silence

It was an incredible day for the Inaugural Warwick Music Festival, "Break the Silence." From mother nature's disposition to the generosity of so many others, the event was an enormous success. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the  Warwick Valley Bed and Breakfast, "Break the Silence" was presented at  Chateau Hathorn on Sunday, June 30 to benefit  Safe Homes of Orange County, an incredible non-profit dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. SDI was honored to sponsor such an amazing event!

Black Dirt Feast

On August 8, the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce hosted the Black Dirt Feast at Scheuermann Farms & Greenhouses in Warwick.  Each year, the  Chamber  celebrates the collaboration of local farmers and restaurateurs with its popular event. The farm-to-table al fresco affair sure highlighted the true bounty and beauty of the region.  SDI was proud to be a sponsor and support the development and growth of local small business.

Warwick Captured in Time

Warwick Captured in Time
The townsfolk in this "practice run" picture from The  Warwick Valley Dispatch lived in Warwick in 1967 when the village buried a time capsule to be opened later this year.

As part of the  Village of Warwick Sesquicentennial celebra tion, Kathie Austin of  Kathie Austin Photography coordinated a photo session at Veterans Memorial Park. Among the group of long-time residents were Garrett and Stuart Durlaand , along with the next generation who will be around for the next time capsule in 1967!

Vermont Mutual Insurance Group Preferred Carrier of the Month

Seely & Durland is proud to partner with Vermont Mutual Insurance Group Chartered in 1928 and based out of Vermont (of course!), they selectively write with 800 independent agents across seven states,  specializing in builder's risk, homes, bed & breakfasts, and other small businesses. They have been  rated "A+ Superior" by A. M. Best and named a Ward's Top 50 performing property and casualty insurance carrier for the past eight consecutive years.

Once affectionately known as "The Old Vermont," Vermont Mutual is among the oldest insurance companies in the U.S. Its beginnings can be traced all the way back to 1827 when it first received its Legislative Charter. It was a little more than two months later that the Vermont Mutual Fire Insurance Company officially opened its doors to the public.
