Watch the Museum's Douglas A-1 Skyraider Historical Presentation; Visit Our YouTube Channel Today!

On January 13, 2024, Retired Army Colonel, former Air Force weapons specialist, and museum docent Nick Cressy traced the story of the Douglas A-1 Skyraider during a special historical presentation at the Museum in the WestPac hangar.

If you weren’t able to make it in-person, or maybe would just like to see and hear it again, that presentation is now available for viewing on the Museum’s YouTube channel!

Beginning with the aircraft’s design and development during World War II to meet U.S. Navy requirements for a carrier-based, single-seat, long-range, high-performance dive bomber and torpedo bomber to replace the TBF Avenger and SB2C Helldiver, and going through the fascinating story of how our A-1E was recovered from Southeast Asia after the Vietnam conflict, Nick discusses the long history of the Skyraider.
