The Dade Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society invites you to its 28th Native Plant Day. Join and learn about South Florida native plants and wildlife, landscaping with native plants, our natural areas, the environment, and more.

World Water Day is March 22

The United Nations has been observing World Water Day every year on March 22 since 1993. It's led by UNESCO — the UN's global leader in science, education, and culture — and is directly tied to the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A core focus of World Water Day is achieving SDG 6: clean water and sanitation for all by 2030.

This year's theme, set by UNESCO and UN-Water, is "Water and Gender" — with the rallying cry "Where Water Flows, Equality Grows." The theme emphasizes safe drinking water and sanitation as fundamental human rights and critical enablers of gender equality.

When our neighborhood wastes less water, we're participating in a global effort that reaches all 17 Sustainable Development Goals — from fighting poverty and hunger to protecting ecosystems and building resilient communities.

Tips to Conserve Water

Fix leaks today. A dripping faucet wastes thousands of gallons a year.

Run full loads only. Washers and dishwashers use the same water whether full or half-empty — make every drop count.

Cut your shower by 2 minutes. A small habit with a big impact when an entire neighborhood does it together.

Water plants in the morning. Cooler temperatures reduce evaporation, so less water goes further.
