2021 State of the Agency
Opportunities for Resiliency
2021 brought opportunities to increase the resilience of both our water supply and our employees.

Below are some of the year’s highlights:

We prepared for the long-term by:
  • Approving a unified retail water rate structure
  • Updating the Urban Water Management Plan
  • Developing the Water Shortage Contingency Plan

We also made significant strides with PFAS Testing and Treatment. And more than 1,614 customers participated in our conservation rebate programs to save water and money.

And we continued to proactively and efficiently manage our resources in the midst of an ongoing drought.

DWR Completes Castaic Dam
Tower Bridge Retrofit
The California Department of Water Resources has completed the seismic retrofits on Castaic Dam’s tower access bridge. The completion marks a major milestone to ensure the resiliency of State Water Project facilities. SCV Water relies on this supply and it would be detrimental if we lost access to it during an emergency.

SCV Sister Cities Seeks Young Artists & Authors for 2022 Showcase
Santa Clarita Sister Cities, in partnership with the City of Santa Clarita, invites students to participate in the 2022 Young Artists and Authors Showcase. This annual competition is part of Sister Cities International’s youth programming and gives students the opportunity to express their ideas on global citizenship and universal issues.

For the 2022 showcase, students are invited to share their perspective on the theme “Generation Rescue: Sustainable Water for All,” highlighting the importance of climate change, its impact on water resources in local and global communities, and how youth are helping address this important global issue. Categories include art, essay/creative writing, poetry, music, and photography.

The Santa Clarita competition is open to students, ages 13-18, from Santa Clarita and its sister cities — Tena, Ecuador, and Sariaya, Philippines. The top five entries in each category will be sent to Sister Cities International to compete with submissions from other Sister Cities organizations around the globe for the $1,000-grand prize per category.
