May 2020
Our water is safe. As we adapt to a changing world due to the COVID-19 coronavirus, SCV Water wants to remind you that your water supply is safe. The virus has not been detected in water supplies and we do not expect any disruption in our delivery of safe and reliable water. We use advanced treatment processes to re move and kill viruses, including the COVID-19 coronavirus. So stock up at the tap, not at the store!

We are here. Daily, we monitor and adapt to orders from the local, state and federal authorities. We have implemented rotating schedules and accommodations to maintain social distancing among our staff, while ensuring our lab , treatment plants, and other key facilities remain staffed to keep our water system safe and operational. Your water will continue to meet all state and federal drinking water standards.

We’re all in this together ! Well, not physically, because ... #SocialDistancing.

Stay safe and healthy!

We Are Here to Help
We want to remind you that SCV Water is doing its part to protect the health and well-being of our customers, employees and the community we serve.

Here’s what we are doing

  • All late fees and service shutoffs have been suspended through June 30th to protect those who are struggling due to loss of income.

  • All Customer Care lobbies are closed through at least June 30th. Pay your water bill online, by phone, or use an external drop box at your Customer Care location.

  • We’ve canceled our upcoming events, including May and June gardening classes and the in-person Open House scheduled for May.

  • All Board and Committee meetings are now conducted via teleconferencing. We still encourage you to participate. Just look for the instructions at the top of each Board and Committee Meeting Agenda.

A Virtual Open House to Celebrate
Water Awareness Month
For the past 25 years, SCV Water (and previously, Castaic Lake Water Agency) has invited our customers to learn more about your water and the people behind it at an annual Open House. Last year more than 1,500 people joined us at Central Park and at our Rio Vista Water Treatment Plant!

While we unfortunately cannot gather in person this year, we will be offering some virtual ways to learn more about water! Plus watch for content from the LA County Sanitation District, LA County Parks and more of our amazing partners. Be sure to follow us on social media the week of May 11, and check the Open House web page for details.
SCV Water Addresses PFAS
As we have shared here before, trace amounts of PFAS have been detected in our water supply. PFAS (Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are a group of man-made chemicals which have been manufactured and used in a variety of industries for more than 70 years. We are not alone. World-wide, water agencies are challenged with addressing chemicals that have entered the water supply in part through manufacturing and consumer product use.

Watch this short video to learn how we are addressing the issue in the SCV through testing, treatment and transparency.

As we all do our best to stay "Safer at Home", we wanted to give a shout out to all of the parents doing their best to keep up with their kid's school work and keep them entertained.

To help, we shared four coloring pages in The Signal newspaper last month, but you can find them all here.
