Are You Prepared for a Disaster?
September is National Preparedness Month, and this year’s theme is “Disasters don’t wait. Make your plan today.” As our nation continues to respond to COVID-19, there is no better time to prepare your family and community for an emergency or disaster.

A great way to get started is to make a plan! Talk to your friends and family about how you will communicate before, during, and after a disaster. Keep a handy list of phone numbers within reach.

Then take action and build a supply kit that will last for several days after a disaster for everyone living in your home. And make sure to include drinking water! Typically, you should have enough water per person to last three to seven days, minimum. You will need at least one gallon for each person for each day you expect to be without water. And don’t forget water for your pets!

In case of an emergency, SCV Water is here to help! Visit our Emergency Preparedness page to lean about drinking water safety. We’ve got answers to all of your questions about safe drinking water storage before and after a disaster.
