The District's state-certified water operators monitor water quality every day and around the clock to ensure our customers receive high-quality water.

You can be confident your water meets or is better than all State and Federal drinking water standards. Before the water reaches your tap, it is sampled and tested every step of the way. Testing begins with the groundwater itself, and continues at the source wells, after disinfection, during transit in the pipelines, and even in some customers’ homes.

Marina Businesses Replace Lawns to Conserve Water

Spurred by state regulation prohibiting irrigation of non-functional lawns, some Marina businesses on Reservation Road took action to conserve water by replacing their turf with drought-tolerant plants and decorative landscapes.

The Asian Filipino Market replaced thatch-laden lawns and spray nozzles with colorful plants, decorative rock, and drip irrigation. Property owner Ash Ram remarked, “We all must work together…to conserve water. Failing to do so will eventually lead to an inadequate water supply.”

The Marina Coast Water District offers incentives for lawn and sprinkler replacement with low-water-use landscaping and drip irrigation.

All landscape incentive projects must be pre-approved before work begins.

Large Resident Turnout at CCC Desal Hearing

Demonstrates Community Concerns

Thank you to the hundreds of residents from Marina and around the region who participated in the November 17 California Coastal Commission Hearing and to many who testified on their views about the Cal Am desalination project.

Speakers from our diverse community included engineers, landscapers, Marina Mayor Bruce Delgado, a Brownie Troop, passionate students from CSUMB, and many others.

Residents expressed a strong desire to protect our shared groundwater supply, protect ratepayers from unfair costs, and preserve our beautiful coastline and natural habitat from the desal project.

Summary of the Coastal Commission Hearing: The California Coastal Commission approved the Cal Am desalination plant despite citing its high costs, harms to the Marina coastline, and “the most significant environmental justice issues” the commission has faced in recent years.

Cal Am now faces conditions and approvals they may not be able to meet...

Protect Your

Pipes From Freezing!

Insulate Your Pipes and Backflow Devices

Water inside your exterior pipes and backflow devices will expand when it freezes which can lead to burst pipes and water loss!

It doesn't freeze often in Marina and Seaside, but when it does, it is best to be prepared. Protect your exposed pipes by covering them with foam insulation, then wrapping them with pipe tape. Cover your backflow protection devices with locking, insulated covers to help keep them from freezing.
