Women's History Month

International Women's Day (March 8)

This year’s Women’s History Month theme - Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future - is especially fitting as our Smart One Water Mission speaks directly to the need for sustainable water and wastewater services.  As we recognize Women’s History Month, we proudly celebrate the remarkable contributions of the women of WSSC Water who help strengthen our organization and, in turn, the communities we serve. The percentage of women on Team H2O has surged to 45 percent! That’s a remarkable leap in our field and is a powerful step toward a more inclusive workforce.

From engineers and scientists to police officers, operators, customer service advisors, and every role that supports our mission, women across WSSC Water are driving innovation, strengthening our communities, and helping build a more sustainable future.

So here’s a celebratory toast with a glass of tap water to the women of WSSC Water, whose dedication, expertise, and leadership help keep our communities flowing every day.

Protect Your Pipes and Ours!

Grease goes in the can, not down the drain! Help prevent messy and expensive basement backups and sewer overflows by remembering: Can the Grease… CAN IT, COOL IT, TOSS IT… in the trash. We’ll even send you a free can lid!

And, KEEP WIPES OUT OF THE PIPES! Flush only the three Ps - pee, poop, and (toilet) paper. These simple steps help protect your plumbing, our sewer system, and the environment.

Deadline to Submit Applications for the 2026 WSSC Water Commissioners' Engineering Scholarship is March 15

Prince George’s and Montgomery County residents pursuing engineering degrees - at any accredited college or university - are eligible to receive $3,000 annually (up to $12,000 total), plus priority consideration for paid summer internships.

High school seniors accepted into an engineering program are also eligible.

Eligible customers, including those impacted by recent federal actions, may qualify for a one-time bill assistance payment of up to $750. The total fund exceeds $2 million, but less than half remains. Apply soon, as funding is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Reminder: Collections outreach for past-due accounts began January 5, 2026, including mailed notices and automated phone calls. Late fees have also been reinstated.

Service disconnections for past-due accounts will resume April 1, 2026, for residential customers. Disconnections for commercial customers resumed March 1, 2026.
