Township of Lake of Bays Mayor Terry Glover and Councillor Jacquie Godard were both in touch with LOBA today to encourage all residents with property damage to carefully and extensively photo-document the damage. This will provide important information for any future claims. Thank you Terry and Jacquie!
Early next week, the Township of Lake of Bays will be making an announcement regarding tipping fees in the wake of the flooding.
The Town of Huntsville has released a statement that they will be working with Lake Associations to collect/remove debris from lakes and rivers, to encourage residents not to retrieve floating items at this time, and to call 705-789-6421 ext. 0 if you see an item larger than a Muskoka chair floating in the water—
they will assist in securing it until such time as it can be collected.
The MNRF has confirmed that a flood warning remains in effect for the Muskoka River Watershed.

The MNRF has also reduced the flow of water out of Lake of Bays, Kawagama Lake, Huntsville Lakes and Mary Lake. The reason is that water levels in Lakes Muskoka, Rousseau and Joseph and the Moon River have risen 3 to 4 centimetres in the last 24 hours and the inflow had to be slowed. You can read about this

Some residents have expressed concern upon seeing the Bigwin Island barge in the water. LOBA President Mary Ann Peden spoke with Greg Gutowski, Bigwin Island Golf Club CEO and Shared Facilities Manager, who assured her that they are aware of the high water and wake concerns for shorelines and shoreline structures. On Monday they will start using the barge, which has virtually no wake, to move only essential staff and supplies, with one crossing in the morning and another in the evening. To reiterate what we said yesterday—
while there are no boating restrictions on Lake of Bays, we strongly advise all residents NOT to boat on the lake at this time as any wake will be extremely destructive to shorelines and shoreline structures and there is a great deal of debris floating in the water.
