Notes From the Boss Lady
Hello to all of my happy readers! I write this month's edition from a small desk outside of the shop. This week we experienced some very warm days and this spot has allowed me to cool off a bit while enjoying the happenings of our street.
Speaking of, our streets are filled with families, locals and tourists alike. Dare I say we are bustling. This week has brought its own joys and struggles. I will start with thanking every one of you for your continued support and faithfulness. I will also ask that you continue to be patient with us and love us through this. We continue to have grumpy customers in regard to things like hand sanitizer and mask wearing. I would like to state that working retail during these times is a challenge, and that staying cheerful throughout can be a challenge. My team and I are meeting that challenge head on every single day.

Speaking of needing a bit of R&R, my hubby and I are taking the kiddos and going to a log cabin for a couple of days in order to reconnect and unplug. I am grateful for this time and we soooooooooo need it. The store will remain open and in very capable hands--my right hand and left hand, to be exact. I could do nothing without my beautiful team. Come in and see them.

I finished City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert, that was a VERY fun read, come and chat with me about it. My vacation book is The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd. This book is lovely, insightful, and well written. Looking forward to reading that while I am away, and then I will be reading Estelle by Linda Henley. So I am all "BOOKED" as we would say. Ok, enough from me! Stay healthy!

Enjoy and Happy READING!
Our New Sale-Card Spinner!
We are expanding our selection of sale cards! We now have a whole SPINNER full of cards that are $0.50 off their marked price! There's nothing wrong with these cards--they are just the last of their kind, and we're ready to make room for new! Look for a blue dot on the plastic sleeve or a star penciled on the back of the card!
COVID-19 UPDATE!
Some reminders as we continue through Phase 2:
  • You must wear a mask to come in store
  • We have hand sanitizer out front for you to use before you come in store
  • When you come in, please take a book pass from the lime green stool outside the door and carry it in with you. You can place the book pass on the stool inside the door. This helps us keep track of how many customers there are. If there are no passes available, we are at max capacity. Thank you for your patience!
  • We are still offering curbside pick up. Give us a call to arrange for it!
  • We are still offering a half-hour appointment in the morning before we open for customers who want to shop and are uncomfortable shopping with others in store. Call at least a day beforehand to schedule this appointment.

Thank you for your continued understanding and support! Take care and stay SAFE!

Estelle is a dual timeline between Edgar Degas in 1870s New Orleans, and Anne, an art museum intern in 1970 who has a special connection to Degas.

"In this engrossing debut novel, Linda Stewart Henley intertwines the two stories, told a century apart, with themes of romance, familial loyalty, questions about social equity, and a passion for art and preservation."

Watermark Book Club
Watermark Book Club is on a quick summer break! We will resume Zoom meetings in September. In the meantime, both Brandy and Amberly have read City of Girls, by Elizabeth Gilbert, and we loved it! Here's a little bit about it:

City of Girls follows Vivian Morris's life from her early twenties, when she moves to Manhattan in the 1940's to live with her aunt and finds herself in a new world of theater and showgirls. This becomes a formative time in her life, and the things that happen to her will affect the rest of her life as the United States enters World War II and everything changes. This is a well-written novel that is both light and fun. It has lots of excitement and surprises throughout. Her characters are very appealing and they quickly become characters you want to know more about. Enjoy!
