Notes from the Boss Lady
Hi there to all of my happy readers - I am so happy that the holidays are upon us. I LOVE this time of year. This, of course, is a different type of year for all of us. The challenges are real, and we are working so hard to provide all of the things that you may need to make all of your holiday gift-giving dreams come true, while providing a super-safe environment to do so.
We get asked EVERY day how this new "rule" is affecting us, and my answer is this... We have only allowed 10% occupancy in our store at a time since June, and so this new rule, while challenging, really does not affect us as much. We know that you may have to be patient and wait a few minutes before coming in and doing your shopping, or maybe we help you curbside for a change. We appreciate your understanding with this during these times. We remain busy and we look busy - just remember that we don't have as many customers in store, so we still need our local customer to come and continue to love on us.
I just finished reading Magic Lessons, by Alice Hoffman, and it was absolutely awesome! I think it was such a great telling of a witch story, and Alice is such a magical storyteller. There was so much history in this book. I have started The Age of Miracles, by Karen Thompson Walker, and I am so excited to read this. It was recommended by one of my book reps.

Holiday Shopping During a Pandemic--

We know that this has been a difficult and unconventional year for everyone, and with the holiday season right around the corner, we are committed to making your shopping experience as easy and stress-free as we can! Our store is as full as it's ever been, and we've been having fun bringing in a great stock for gifting. And don't forget that we offer complimentary gift wrapping! Let us be your one-stop-shop for the holidays! Here are some of the options available to you:
Shopping by Appointment! Let us know that you are interested in making an appointment to shop with the whole store to yourself, and we will get back to you with available times! They will be the half hour before and after the store closes--so, 9:00 am and 5:30 pm Monday-Saturday, and 10:30 am and 4:00 pm on Sundays. This is your opportunity to have the whole store to yourself, and to have us girls to yourself to answer all of your questions and make suggestions!
Plan a Shopping Party! Groups of up to six shoppers can book appointments for hour-long shopping parties on Sundays, either 10:00-11:00 am or 4:00-5:00 pm. Again, you and your friends or family will have the store to yourself, and we will be here to help you with your shopping experience. When you plan a shopping party, your party will receive 10% off of your entire purchase (sales items excluded, and it will not count toward your frequent buyer points). Get your group together and plan your party--there are only so many Sundays until Christmas!
Let Us Be Your Personal Shoppers! We are so happy to make suggestions and create gift packages for you over the phone. We will even FaceTime you so that you can be here with us, making your selections without ever having to come inside! We can process your whole order over the phone and have it gift wrapped and ready for you.
We Offer Shipping and FREE Delivery to Anacortes! If you live in Anacortes PROPER, we will bring your order to your front door--we'll just knock on your door and leave it for you, and it will be a completely contact-free experience. We are also happy to package and ship your orders through the USPS--we only charge you for the shipping that it costs us.

Every year, the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association puts out a holiday catalog with great gifting ideas, and we are excited to feature many of these titles here in store! From children's picture books to chapter books, beautiful coffee table books, great fiction and non-fiction reads, we are sure to have the perfect gift for that someone in your life. While we are waiting for book club to resume, we are sharing reviews of what the team is reading! This month, Brandy read Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman. Here's what she thought:
"I was super excited to read this, because I love reading about witches and I am often disappointed by the research and writing, but I had heard so many wonderful things about Alice Hoffman! I was not disappointed with this book. It is set in the late 1600s in Salem and New York. It follows a witch who was abandoned at a young age and was left in the care of another witch. The book goes on to describe the different types of witches and spells, and how they were mostly hidden away. I learned so much. The book moved beautifully through the story. The writing was lovely, descriptive, and concise, with a great story of love, heartache--and a great ending!"
