Notes from the Boss Lady

Hello to ALL of my happy readers...

What a LOVELY respite we had! I just spent a great deal of time sleeping, eating, and reading. I read 3 books while off from the store and it was wonderful. And while I stayed away from the store while on the break, I did come in and do some "work." I simply cannot help myself. I built card spinners and organized and cleaned. Ben brought in our fridge and microwave. He also updated our sink and toilet in the back room. It was a nice quiet time for us to get some things done around here.

A little bit of store housekeeping for you--we are gearing up for Valentine's Day and Dine and Shop to End Homelessness. We are so excited for each of these events. We are looking forward to continuing to serve the community. We are so happy to partner with Anacortes Family Center.

The card spinners are built--funny story... I ordered this AMAZING new card line that is a boxed card line. Because it is new and I wanted to really represent this new line, I ordered quite a few boxed cards! So I asked if they offered a spinner--they could sell me one, and it is a BEAUTIFUL spinner, so I ordered it! Well, a few days later we received our new spinner, and, while we were on vacation, I came in to put together said spinner...Once I started unpacking everything, I became very aware that there was more than one spinner here!! Turns out they sent me 4 spinners!!! I could not believe it. Once I built the first one, I realized that the quality of these spinners far surpassed what I currently had, so I decided to buy ALL 4! And they gave me a discount because of the mistake. Hahahahaha--my husband said that their plan worked like a charm. I am very happy and excited for you to come in and see them. We continue to make changes for good.

Back to work for me--I am currently reading The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab, and it is everything that everyone is saying... It is amazing. Totally fun and interesting and full of such a wild story. Love it!
Happy Reading to you!

Watermark Book Club
Watermark Book Club is BACK on Zoom! It is a closed book club, and you can let us know if you would like to be added to the waitlist. In the meantime, feel free to read along with us! This month we are discussing Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead, by Olga Tokarczuk. Here's what Brandy has to say about the book!
"This book came into the bookstore by a customer's request, and then we could not keep it in shop--it was SO popular. Amberly and I both read it. It is a Nobel Prize Literature winner, and it is wonderful. The writing is so interesting--it is originally written in Polish and then translated. It's a murder mystery set outside of the Czech Republic. You don't know who did the killing. The main character is Janina and the writing gets you inside of her head. The setting is dark and cold and rainy most of the year, and right away, you are brought into the mystery. There is a wild 'suggestion' made by the main character which will have you wondering who the killer is. It's brilliant."
