Hello to all of my happy readers!!!

I am sitting here writing this on Christmas Eve, hearing my lovely team bustle around me and customers laughing and music playing. What a wonderful season we have had. I am so fortunate to have such an amazing, dedicated, hard-working team. I am so proud of the work that we have done. Every year I have fears and they just stand so tall next to me.

I have a house full of love and my children right now! They are in town visiting from Florida, and it is so nice to spend time with them. I am not going to be in shop the week following Christmas due to my spending time with them. I only get 12 days before they head back to Florida--so I am spending all the minutes with them. The shop will open and the team will be holding down the fort for me. They are so happy that I am having this time with my kids. It has been 6 months since I have seen them. Janet is thrilled to have her brothers home.

Janet's birthday is December 27th, and we will be celebrating her that day, and she is very excited at the idea that there may be snow for her special day! She is so delightful.

I am not one for New Year's Resolutions...I am more about observing. I take quiet time and observe what is working, what has worked, and what needs improving. That is how I do things. I am going to continue walking and making dinners with my husband--it has proven to be so fruitful for our marriage. I will continue to work on a good work/life balance. On the work front: I always want to have a successful business--financially, as well as a happy environment for all, and a shop that contributes to the community. I want to do more every year for the community we live in. This year I will look for more ways to do that.

This month I read Jodi Picoult's Wish You Were Here, and Ann Patchett's book of essays, These Precious Days. I tried to read a Christmas cozy with little success...I just find it hard to read them sometimes. I am currently reading In These Silent Woods, by Kimi Cunningham Grant, and so far it is VERY interesting and a quick read. After that I am deciding between Alan Cumming's new book or Cinder (which is YA). I am excited to read some new titles and new genres that I don't usually partake in.

I wish you all the Happiest of New Years!

Please stay safe, happy, and healthy...Happy Reading!!
Brandy~

Watermark Book Club is on Zoom! It is a closed book club, and you can let us know if you would like to be added to the waitlist. In the meantime, feel free to read along with us! This month we are discussing They Both Die at the End, by Adam Silvera. Here's what Brandy has to say about the book:
I wanted to read something very different, and my team also wanted to read it, so we all set out to do that! I found the idea behind the story fascinating right away. The idea is that technology has advanced so much and in such a way that we now know when people are going to die--and that there is an alert system to let you know that you will die in the next 24 hours. The story mostly centers on two people who both know that they are going to die by day's end...and they come together to choose to spend their last day together. I really liked the concept, and I really liked the ending--even though you know what is going to happen, it doesn't stop you from rooting for another end.
