New Year's Resolutions

Thank you, everyone, for such a wonderful holiday season! We are so grateful that you were a part of our holidays. As we ring in the new year, we'd love to share our New Year's Resolutions with you, as well as some books that might help you with yours!
Jaycee ~ Read outside of my usual genre, and write more cards! Get back into dance.
Amberly ~ Slow down and be more present and in the moment. Be kinder to myself. Cook more.
Brandy ~ Get outside more. Read more. Do more meal planning. Use less plastic (the supermarket loves me).
Notes From the Boss Lady
The team is taking a full breath post holiday crazy… We had a lovely season. The hustle and bustle of the shop and the wrapping and bundling of books this season has slowed down substantially. We remain grateful for our local support and the “shop local” good vibes that surround our gift-giving season. We now sit back, pick up that book placed on our own bookshelf pre-holiday season, and drink a cup of much needed tea. We say many thanks and we come together with our well-wishes and our resolutions and ideas for the year to come. We are so excited for what 2020 will bring. A few notes from “the house”…. This week we start our store inventory, we do NOT close for that- it is a working inventory and it is hard work. Feel free to stop in and check on us, bring us some refreshments :) In other house news, December 30th was Levi’s last day with us. He was great seasonal help and he is on to do great things with his flying career.  We will be the awesome threesome once again. We wish you all the happiest of New Years. Have a safe New Year and see you soon.
Special Note From the Boss Lady
James Patterson is not only a NYT’s best selling author--he also is the host of his own Holiday Bookstore Bonus Program. This year is his 6th year to partner with the ABA. He announced earlier this year that he was going to be giving out $250,000 - that’s $500 dollars to 500 booksellers. This is a very prestigious award--and our very own Amberly was a recipient. The grant application asks one simple question: Why does this employee deserve a holiday bonus? Thank you to James Patterson for caring about Independent Booksellers!! And CONGRATS AMBERLY… we choose you! You are just awesome and you so deserve this! Thank you for continuing to work hard.

Watermark Book Club
For the holiday season, we decided to read something inspirational and uplifting--a little gift for ourselves. Here's a bit about The Path Made Clear , by Oprah Winfrey:

The Path Made Clea r by Oprah is a collection of quotes and interviews from celebrities and public figures about their paths to success. This book does an excellent job of showing an array of different experiences. Each page includes beautiful photography. Reading it felt like a bit of a break for the mind. At the heart of these interviews is the idea of love: loving the people around you and loving yourself. It is the perfect book to start the new year and the new season.
