Happy Summer!
Happy Summer! The sun is shining and our plants are happy and flowering!
Notes From the Boss Lady
Hello ALL! Boy, it feels lovely to be back open... there is soooooo much more work than normal. We are training customers on all of the new procedures, and we are cleaning--so much cleaning. Plus we are all personally adapting to wearing a mask for 40 plus hours a week. These are all adjustments and we are here making them and so grateful for your continued support.

Things that are happening around the shop--we continue to be in Phase 2 as a county for the time being. So the
guidelines laid out below are still in effect. We just got a bike rack from the City for the front of the shop! Yay! We are thrilled for our customers who arrive by bike. Look at this picture of Carolyn--the first person to use it!

Customers have been asking a lot about how we are doing--you all are so thoughtful and worried for us. We are still here and we have made it so far through this pandemic storm. Switching to an online platform during the shutdown was the best thing we could have done--while we lost thousands and thousands of dollars, we were still able to LITERALLY keep the lights on. Our numbers are slowly inching up once again. We are at about 60 percent of where we should be in our numbers. So, once again, I am very grateful for all of your continued support and love for us. We would not be here if it was not for you.

I can NOT believe that it is JULY... these are strange times. Continue to be patient with one another and open to learning--these are some of my daily goals. I am currently reading City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert, and boy is it a gem. I am smiling through the whole book.

Enjoy and Happy READING!

COVID-19 UPDATE!
Some reminders as we continue through Phase 2:
  • You must wear a mask to come in store
  • We have hand sanitizer out front for you to use before you come in store
  • When you come in, please take a book pass from the lime green stool outside the door and carry it in with you. You can place the book pass on the stool inside the door. This helps us keep track of how many customers there are. If there are no passes available, we are at max capacity. Thank you for your patience!
  • We are still offering curbside pick up. Give us a call to arrange for it!
  • We are still offering a half-hour appointment in the morning before we open for customers who want to shop and are uncomfortable shopping with others in store. Call at least a day beforehand to schedule this appointment.

Thank you for your continued understanding and support! Take care and stay SAFE!

Watermark Book Club
Normally the Watermark Book Club takes a "summer break," but this year, we decided to extend it another month! We're excited for our Zoom meeting, when we'll discuss the Silence of the Girls , by Pat Barker. Here's Brandy's review:

"I originally read and reviewed this lovely piece of work for the Fidalgo Living magazine - I liked it so much and there was such good opportunity for discussion that I thought it made a natural choice for book club. Pat Barker is a Booker Prize winner, and it is easy to see why: her descriptions are deep and thoughtful--you feel as though you are there in the moment with the characters. This is the telling of the Trojan war through the eyes of women, mostly through Briseis. There are things that she describes that I simply cannot unsee. She also does a wonderful job of showing the unraveling of Achilles. Enjoy!"
