Notes From the Boss Lady
Hello My Happy Readers...
I continue to be in awe of our customer support and love. This week has been a very hard week. I am so grateful for each of you. I do not have a DATE yet as to when we will be opening--Skagit County has reapplied to be an exception for Phase 2 and we await the verdict. We are not in a rush as we are so busy serving you on a daily basis and as we busily prepare the store for customers once again. The first thing I will start with is, "Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding....." as things will look, feel and be different. There is just no way around this. My number one priority is our health and safety, and the community's health and safety. This is truly how I go to bed each night. Please understand me when I say how hard this has been. I want to walk through the new process and what it will look like when we re-open for Phase 2. First of all, we will have a special time set aside each day (BY APPOINTMENT SET AT LEAST THE DAY BEFORE) to shop in our store by yourself. This special time will need to be scheduled through calling or emailing the store and it will be from 9 am to 9:30 am in the morning. We want to offer a time for someone who would feel safer or has a health issue, and we want to be sensitive to that. For the time being, we will only be allowing 4 customers in the store at a time. If your group/family is larger than 4 people--but less than 7--you would simply wait until the space is available and then you would "occupy" the store. There will be a "helpful" system outside that will let you know how many spots are available in the store, and if you need to wait for a moment or two to enter there will be marks on the sidewalk to mark the "6 feet" social distancing recommendation. We will also be wearing masks, and we will require that our customers wear them as well in order to come into the store. I have an auto-immune disease and my son will be in the store (this is non-negotiable for me) However. if this is problematic or a health issue for you, I would like to recognize that and will assist you curbside to the very best of our ability. We want to be safe and to help you. Hopefully everyone has a mask already, but if you don't we will have some here that you may purchase for $9.50 plus tax. Simply let us know. We will also be requiring the wearing of gloves in the store. There is no way for us to clean books and they are a high contact surface... so in order to accommodate and provide safety we will provide a hand sanitizer station and gloves before you enter, and a place to dispose of them when you leave. We thank you during this time. We will have arrows in the store for moving in safe directions and plexi-glass at the check out counter. I hope that you feel my love for each of you in the way that we are caring for you. We will continue to do so with our whole hearts. We will get through this together.
COVID-19 UPDATE!
As counties in Washington State begin to re-open and we get nearer to Phase 2, here is a brief overview of Watermark Book Company's store policies and steps going forward:
  • Our store will not open for shoppers until the governor declares Skagit County is in Phase 2, and until our store is ready to open again. We will announce this via Facebook, Instagram, and an email.
  • When we enter Phase 2, 4 shoppers will be allowed in store at a time, maintaining a 6 foot social distance--1 customer per section, 1 customer at the cash register, etc.
  • If you need to wait outside we will have the sidewalk marked for waiting.
  • Masks will be mandatory for entry, and everyone working at the store will be wearing masks as well. We want to keep you safe, and we ask that you keep each other safe.
  • Gloves will be mandatory. We will have a sanitization station and will provide disposable gloves upon entry to the store
  • Special half-hour 1 person (scheduled in advance) shopping for the immune compromised customer, the elderly customer, and the if-it-makes-you-feel-safer customer.

We want to make Watermark a safe environment to shop in for all!!!
Thank you for helping us to do this.

New and Noteworthy
Watermark Book Club
We are enjoying our virtual Zoom Book Club meetings! We're so grateful to stay connected through this time. This month, we read Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Here's what Brandy has to say about it:
"What a lovely piece of writing--this author writes so effortlessly that you often don't even realize time has passed--this is a total stay up past your bedtime type of book. The story is a fictionalized tale of a band from the '60s through the late '70s--the story is made up entirely of interviews of the band members involved in that period, and it's brilliantly done. You do feel that you are reading something that has to be real, that they must be a real band. I found myself connecting with almost all of the characters in some way. Great read!"
