Notes from the Boss Lady

Hello there! Oh my, life has been interesting the last few weeks. We are busily stocking the store for the upcoming summer season. I am so excited to introduce some new cards, gifting items, and books that we are thrilled about.

A little from the life of me--I cut off all of my hair. I wanted to have less to worry about and more time. It has been wonderful and I LOVE it! My boys went back to school this last week. For those who don't know, I have 3 boys in High School. To help with the math--that is one freshman, one junior, and one senior. Life remains totally insane in my home. My husband is nearly done with one of our personal COVID projects of redoing our back deck...It was so small before that we couldn't all sit on it as a family, and now it is wonderful!

In some store news...I am so excited that April 20th marks 3 years since the day that Patti gave me the keys to this wonderful shop, and I am just as thrilled today as I was then. It remains my favorite job and I love it. I am finally coming to a place where I feel very happy with what I have learned, and now I am really look forward to less fumbling through and reactions, and instead to more preparedness and planning on our parts. I have such a great team and we all know our roles, and it is going well. I thank you all for the opportunity for us to serve you in this remarkable way!

I am almost finished with The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek--so far I really, really like it... so much! Very interesting and so much to talk about...I will finish it this weekend. Then I am set to read either Hidden Valley Road or Four Hundred Souls.

Happy Reading and Stay Safe!

Watermark Book Club
Watermark Book Club is on Zoom! It is a closed book club, and you can let us know if you would like to be added to the waitlist. In the meantime, feel free to read along with us! This month we are discussing Brother and Sister, by Diane Keaton. Here's what Brandy has to say about the book:
"I really enjoyed this book. Like with a lot of memoirs, I struggled a little bit with the timeline and some of the transparency. The book takes place very early in their lives and it spans through three whole lives very quickly in this short book--but there is so much to unpack. It is Diane Keaton's present-day reflection on her brother's life--trying to figure out what happened, why he is so different, and what she could have done differently. There is much to learn from reading this book."
