We're hitting that pinnacle of summer farmers' market shopping... that glorious week when our farmers' tents are overflowing with just about every fruit and vegetable imaginable. Come fill your bags with sweet corn, juicy peaches, plump blackberries, stunning purple eggplant, perfect heirloom tomatoes, and greens galore. And melons are extra sweet this year thanks to the sizzling temps.

After you shop, grab a cold beverage and relax under one of the Circle's shady trees and enjoy the cool sounds of local favorite Doug Hawk. Sounds like a nice way to start your weekend, doesn't it? We sure think so.
Zany Zukes Ready to Race
in 13th Annual Zucchini 500
Thank goodness we rescheduled the Zucchini 500! Tomorrow's weather is looking just perfect for racing squash... seasonal temps, low humidity, and a slight breeze that'll help propel those cars down the track.

When? 9am-12:30pm
(Carving starts at 9am; Race begins at 11am)
Where? In the Crayola Plaza
Who? Kids ages 3-15 (Kids Category)
Adults 16+ (Adult Category

Try to squash the competition after carving your zuke into a sports car, midsize vehicle or monster truck. How exactly are you supposed to turn a zucchini into a lightning fast race car? Easton Farmers’ Market has all the supplies needed to soup up your zuke — wheels, axles, carving tools and decorations ($7). The Zucchini 500 pit crew will also be on hand to offer their car-building expertise. 

Races will be officiated by real-life NASCAR official Peter Brohl. All participants will receive a 2019 Zucchini 500 racing medallion.

Drivers race their zucchini in heats (based on car type) down a two-lane track. Winners will receive gift cards to Bank Street Creamery, Book & Puppet Co. passes and goodies from Crayola Experience, Easton Farmers’ Market tokens and more!

The only restriction is that participants can’t pre-build their chassis at home.

All the leftovers from Zucchini 500 will go to the Easton Compost Program.

Twin Maple Farms
VENDOR OF THE WEEK!
Last week shoppers voted Twin Maple Farms the "Vendor of the Week" in our Local Loyalty program. No surprise, considering how happy everyone was for the arrival of the season's first sweet corn! Look for lots more fresh-picked white and bicolor corn this week. The corn boys (as they're affectionately called) tell us it's a great year for sweet corn! Oh and don't miss their 5 lb. bags of potatoes too.
Phillips Farm
The end of July kicks off the Blackberry season at Phillips Farms. Not only do blackberries taste delicious but they also have major health benefits and are extremely low in calories. Don’t miss out on the other produce available at Phillips Farms this weekend: Raspberries; Red Currants; Cantaloupe; Watermelon; Plums; Peaches; Nectarines; Garlic; Garlic Scapes; and Fennel.
Cabbage Throw Farm
Giant zucchini are ready to be carved into zooming race cars in the Zucchini 500.
And while the Cabbage Throw Farm squash plants may have slowed down, the eggplants and tomatoes are the winners this week! Get your cans ready and start stocking up on goodies for winter. Spend a morning canning tomatoes, baking zucchini bread to freeze and to eat fresh and pickling veggies! Cabbage Throw Farm will also have their usual cooking greens, fresh herbs, and bulk and bunched root vegetables including beets, carrots, and turnips!
Scholl Orchards
Watermelon arrives this week at Scholl's, and like this year's cantaloupe, it's super sweet! You'll also find sugar plums, juicy nectarines. And loads of yellow and white peaches. Sweet and tart cherries are still available too. Look for tomatoes, and lots of veggies to round out the mix of fresh-picked goodness.

Pheasant Hill Farm & PorTch Tea
Pheasant Hill Farm will have lots of long-lasting bouquets featuring lisianthus this week! And they'll have plenty of PorTch Tea’s refreshing summer flavors of good-for-you, tasty kombucha (made with Pheasant Hill's own herbs and fruits).

Valley Milkhouse

This Saturday, come have a taste of what Stefanie’s dairy dream team has been fermenting this month: sheep’s milk Witchgrass and their cherished cow’s milk Foxtail feta! This version of Witchgrass is made with a sheep-cow blend and has an extra rich, creamy texture with sweet, fruity notes from the sheep’s milk and mushrooms, earthy aromas from the white mold rind. Foxtail feta is made with raw milk and aged for 4 months - a special reserve batch just for our EFM devotees! 

These cheeses make for the perfect pairing ingredient for all of your zucchini recipes - check out one of our favorites below! 

Zucchini and Feta Frittata 

2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 large zucchini trimmed and cut into about 1/3 inch cubes 
7 large eggs beaten
10 cherry tomatoes cut in half
3 leaves large basil torn into small pieces
4 oz Valley Milkhouse feta
4 oz Clover cheese (for egg batter)
salt and pepper to taste

Turn the grill (broiler) onto high and position a rack about 10 inches away
Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in skillet (broiler proof) over med-high heat. Sauté the zucchini. transfer to a paper towel to drain
Add the other 1 tbsp olive oil to the pan and reduce the heat to low. Whisk the eggs with the salt and pepper (to taste) and Clover Fromage Blanc, stir in the cooked zucchini and then pour into the skillet. Use a spatula to make sure the zucchini are in a single layer
Cook slowly until the frittata is mostly set (about 8 minutes). It should still be a little runny on top. Add in the cherry tomatoes, cut side up, and the basil - pushing them into the egg mixture. Scatter the feta cheese on top
Place the skillet under the broiler until puffy and golden - enjoy!

Camelbah is back! This is a sheep's milk soft bloomy white rind cheese that is light and mild. Rob likes it with fruit or a sweet white wine, but it's a mellow cheese that can be enjoyed on a sandwich too. Raspberry Ridge will have sheep's milk hard cheeses and yogurt too.

Doug Hawk
Doug Hawk's compositions are more positive affirmation than they are songs. This is intelligent, inspiring, grooving music that not only makes you think but groove, as well. Lyrically topical with a positive message. Comparisons to artists such as Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai, Steely Dan and Gill Scott-Heron are accurate but in a purely derivative sense. Don't miss Easton-favorite Doug Hawk Saturday from 10 am to 12 noon in the Music Tent under the trees on the north lawn of the Circle.
