It’s not just a building. The Roughrider Center and its team creates avenues of connection for community members of all ages and interests.

When Trevor, a heavy equipment operator and Lacey, director of domestic activities at the Ledahl-Berger home were looking for work-life balance that would allow Trevor to be a part of their family’s many activities, they found it in Watford City. And the 7 Ledahl-Berger children found numerous opportunities to be who they want to be, meeting new friends along the way…

First baby born


On January 4th the first baby was born at McKenzie County Healthcare Systems after the announcement of the addition of labor and delivery services late last year. Labor and Deliver services had been ended in 1990s here, but they are now available again! Appointments for women’s health services at McKenzie County Healthcare Systems can be made by calling 701-842-3771.

January Economy at a Glance

  • McKenzie County Unemployment Rate for November 2022 is 1.9%; in November 2021 it was 3.9%


  • Restaurant/Lodging Tax distributions for Watford City in 2022 were $292,802 in 2021 they were $267,803.


  • Landfill daily average for McKenzie County was 81.9 tons in December 2022; in December 2021 it was 59.8 tons.

Networking opportunity


The Watford City Area Chamber of Commerce and Watford City Economic Development Corporation will be having their social annual meeting on Wednesday January 18. Social begins at 5pm and program at 6:30pm. All are welcomed to attend.

Parallel Exit to perform


Parallel Exit mixes song & dance with slapstick physical comedy to produce a delightful show for any audience. They will be performing at 7pm on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at the Watford City High School Theater as part of the Long X Arts Concert Series.

Cowgirls 'n Conservation
