Chlorine Winter Closing Kits
Many kits feature a form of chlorine as a sanitizer because it is highly effective in killing and preventing bacteria and other contaminates. Because chlorine is less dense than water, (it floats) it can seriously weaken the fabric of a winter cover as well as bleach the liner.

Non-Chlorine Winter Closing Kits

Bringing the chlorine level in your pool over 3.0 ppm will most likely damage your winter cover and bleach your liner.
Water on your winter cover should never be greater than 4 inches. However, you should add 1" of water to hold it down and prevent flapping in high winds.
Sharp blows on the side of a cold/frozen above ground pool might cause permanent damange to your pool's liner.
