TONIGHT: Meet the Teacher Night



Please plan enough time to park and get to your child's homeroom before the bell rings to get started at 7:00 p.m. You will walk through your child's schedule with an opportunity for the teachers to introduce themselves. The evening finishes around 8:30 p.m.


Sophomore and Junior Parent Meetings

Sophomores: 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria

Juniors: 6:00 p.m. in the theatre


Eagle Store Open

The Eagle Store will be open during Meet the Teacher night so stop by to pick up your spirit wear!

Show your Eagle pride by placing one of our (free) signs in your front yard! Signs will be available to pick up at Meet the Teacher night.

Student Ambassadors will also be selling these magnets for your car or fridge! Cost is $5.00/cash only.

PSAT/NMSQT


Sophomores and juniors will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 1. This is a uniform day and students must be in their assigned rooms by 7:45 a.m. Students who are late may not be permitted in the room to take the exam and this will be counted as an unexcused absence. Room assignments will be sent to the students’ bwhs.org emails along with information pertinent to test day. Freshmen and seniors have this day off from school.


Students will be dismissed at approximately 11:00 a.m. Students who have extended time accommodations may finish by noon. Busing information will be shared with bus riders.

Legends Auction is Open


The Legends Golf Classic, set for September 15 at Kinsale Golf & Fitness Club, includes a silent auction with bidding open to all BWHS supporters. The auction features vacation condos in Fort Myers, Myrtle Beach and Siesta Key as well as plenty of golf options including Muirfield Village and Scioto CC, among others. Check it out today!

Thank you to everyone who helped with Mothers’ Club’s fall campus beautification! An extra thank you goes out to the Bennett family and Kurtz Bros. nursery for a very generous plant donation.

Campus Ministry Corner


Parents of Fall Kairos Attendees

If your son or daughter is signed up to attend Fall Kairos, you should receive an important parent email with retreat details on Thursday, September 4. Please read and respond to the email requests by September 19. If you do not receive an email, please reach out to Campus Minister Mrs. Beth Simmonds at Mrs.Simmonds@bwhs.org.

Registration is open for the Winter and Spring Kairos Retreats.

NCYC

We have eight available spots for students to join our pilgrimage to the National Catholic Youth Conference on November 20-23 in Indianapolis. We were able to lock in the price of $575. NCYC is an excellent opportunity to encounter Christ and his Church through inspiring talks, music, adoration and Liturgy, along with interactive experiences and service.

Counselor Corner


Senior Parents

Remind your students to sign up for their senior planning meeting with their counselor. Parents are encouraged to attend.


Reminder: Test Prep

Juniors and sophomores are scheduled to take the PSAT on October 1. An in-person PSAT workshop led by Dr. Lynn Dailey with The ACT/SAT Review will be offered on September 13 from 8:00 a.m.-noon. This workshop is highly recommended for juniors trying to achieve National Merit Scholarship. Click here for more information.

 

Lunch and Learn

The counseling department hosts a series of career focused Lunch and Learn events over the course of the year from 11:05-12:30 p.m. The first Lunch and Learn is approaching on Wednesday, September 17 with a focus on All Things Military. Students will be given the opportunity to connect with professionals and to learn about each military branch along with ROTC programs. This Lunch and Learn is open to all students in grades 9 through 12. Students can sign up to attend in their Scoir accounts.

 

Please Note: Juniors will receive access to Scoir accounts on Tuesday, September 9. Sophomores will receive access to Scoir accounts on Thursday, September 4. Freshman will receive a google form to sign up during a counselor visit the week of September 8.

Suburban College Fair

Save the date for the upcoming Suburban College Fair on Sunday, September 21 at Capital University. Bishop Watterson is a sponsor of the event where 200 colleges will be represented. Seniors and juniors are strongly encouraged to attend and are asked to wear their Bishop Watterson gear.

Parents Are Invited to Join Us

One of the efforts to nurture and encourage the spiritual life of our students here at Bishop Watterson is weekly exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Each week, one grade level is assigned to spend some time in silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament during Theology class. On Wednesdays, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed in the chapel at 7:30 a.m. and remains until Benediction at 1:30 p.m.


Parents are invited to join us. If you have completed the “Protecting God’s Children” requirements of the Diocese, please click on the button below to sign-up for a particular Holy Hour.

Athletics


Softball Workouts

The softball team will have fall workouts on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-6:00 p.m., beginning September 30. Workouts will include practice in the hitting barn from 3:15-4:45 p.m. followed by lifting from 5:00-6:00 p.m.

The boys lacrosse team will have a meeting on Thursday, September 11, at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

The girls lacrosse team will have a meeting on Tuesday, September 23, at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.
