October Volunteer of the Month
Congratulations to our October Volunteer of the Month, Adam Somos!
If you attended the annual Greek Festival over Labor Day weekend, you may have enjoyed a delicious treat from one of its most popular booths, the Baklava Sundae station! Adam played an instrumental role in its success this year, taking on the challenge of co-chairing the booth and helping lead it to a record-breaking weekend. He recruited fellow students to volunteer at the Baklava Sundae station, collaborated with his co-chair to develop a plan for managing the booth, and helped ensure everything ran smoothly. Thanks to their efforts, the booth sold out of its delicious treats by Sunday!
Adam has been actively involved in his parish, Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, his entire life. Since entering eighth grade, he has taken on an increasingly active role in serving his parish community. Throughout high school, Adam has generously given his time to the children’s ministry and helped lead Vacation Bible School.
Adam’s commitment to service is evident in the glowing praise he received from his supervisor, who shared that “Adam does not wait to be asked to help; he offers as soon as he sees someone who needs help.” In a parish community with many older members, this willingness to step up and lend a hand is especially valued.
During his time at Bishop Watterson, Adam has recorded more than 320 service hours. Beyond his work with Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, he has also participated in Gospel Road and the CCYHA Special Hockey program.
Adam’s initiative, dedication to his parish, and genuine attentiveness to the needs of others demonstrate how meaningful service often begins with simply being willing to step up. Adam, thank you for putting your faith into practice and making a lasting difference in the lives of those around you.
