NOVEMBER 2018
REMINDER: WINTER WATERING SCHEDULE NOW IN EFFECT
Effective November 1, the winter watering schedule has resumed and outdoor watering is only permitted on Saturdays before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m. Additionally, Pasadena's permanent water waste prohibitions in place include:
-- No outdoor watering during and 48 hours after rain
-- No excessive water flow or runoff onto pavement
-- No washing down hard or paved surfaces, unless for safety and sanitation.

PWP also reminds you to water your landscape only as needed. If your lawn has plenty of moisture, give your sprinklers a rest and skip your watering day! Make conservation a "Way of Life" with small lifestyle changes that create a big impact. Learn more by viewing our brand new PSA, airing now on YouTube, cable and KPAS.

FREE EFFICIENCY UPGRADES FOR HOMEOWNERS
As a community and environmental partner, PWP wants to help Pasadena's homeowners save money, use resources more efficiently and increase the comfort of their homes. That’s why we developed the Home Improvement Program.

Program participants receive an expert in-home evaluation and personalized installations to help save energy and water, all at no cost. Depending on the eligibility of the home, services may include toilet replacements, central AC-tune up, smart thermostats and much more!

This FREE program is available to PWP customers with a residential electric account. To learn more about this no-cost program, visit our Home Improvement page.
PWP TO DEVELOP NEW WATER SYSTEMS & RESOURCES PLAN
PWP has begun the development process for the 2019 Water System and Resources Plan (Water SRP), which is Pasadena's roadmap for long-term capital and water resource planning. The Water SRP is a combined updated document of both the 2002 Water System Master Plan and the 2011 Water Integrated Resources Plan. The Water SRP will address Pasadena's aging infrastructure, future water demands, existing water resources, and opportunities for new water supplies.

PWP will provide opportunities for the public to learn more about the plan as it develops. Visit the Water SRP page for background information and to provide input. Throughout the year, the page will be updated with upcoming public meeting dates and project milestones.
WHY CHOOSE AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE?
More and more people are choosing electric vehicles (EVs) over gas-powered vehicles. Considering making the switch? Here are the top reasons to buy or lease an EV:

  • PWP is offering residents up to $750 for new or used EVs, and up to $600 for installing a qualifying “Wi-Fi enabled” EV charger.
  • Electric vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions and have a smaller environmental impact than conventional vehicles.
  • Electric cars can be conveniently charged in garages or driveways while they’re parked overnight using existing outlets. (Protip: charge your EV during off-peak hours between midnight and 6 a.m. to help reduce the strain on Pasadena's grid!)
  • Given the considerable efficiency of EVs compared to internal combustion engine models, the cost to fuel an EV is approximately one-third to half the cost of gasoline on a cost-per-mile basis.
  • An electric car is very quiet and very smooth. EVs are built with high torque, allowing full acceleration in just a few seconds.

PWP is committed to the adoption of electric vehicles in Pasadena, and has a variety of resources to help customers learn about their benefits. Visit our EV webpage for information on the available federal, state, and local EV incentives, including the $7,500 federal tax credit and the $2,500 incentive from the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project.
TRANSFORM YOUR LAWN AND RECEIVE $1/SQ.FT
PWP's new Landscape Transformation program provides a rebate of $1 per square foot for replacing your turf with water-saving plants, and installing efficient irrigation systems and rainwater capture features.

To help you understand the benefits of rainwater capture in your garden, PWP now offers a FREE Watershed Wise Landscaping Workshop Series. The next workshop, focusing on turf removal and healthy soil, will take place on Saturday, January 26.

Visit our Landscape Transformation Program page for more information.
ALERT: SCAMMERS ARE ON THE RISE
Recently, scammers have targeted PWP customers over the phone, identifying themselves as employees and demanding payment. These scammers are using clever techniques such as:
  • Using spoofing technology to make PWP phone numbers appear as their contact information on Caller ID.
  • Targeting Spanish-speaking customers and using a Caller ID that states "Total Free Call"

If you experience a fraud attempt, please hang up, and call us back at 626.744.4005 to report your incident. For those who may have given money to these scammers, please report your fraudulent payment with the Pasadena Police Department at 626.744.4241.
