HOW DO WE SIGN UP TO ATTEND WORSHIP
WITH THE HOST CONGREGATION?
To register your congregation to attend on your chosen Sundays, simply fill out the SurveyMonkey form below. This will let the presbytery and the host congregation know you are planning to join them and allow your congregation to be greeted by name. If you need to have your congregation join at the last minute and have not signed up, that is fine too.www.surveymonkey.com/r/AttendSummerWorshipFestival

A Message from Charlie Gross
RE: Encouragement Podcast and Book
God richly blessed me, no, extravagantly blessed me with the gift of encouragement. Spiritual gift surveys have repeatedly shown this over the years and some of my colleagues have called me a cheerleader. Don Lincoln even used a megaphone and led a cheer to celebrate my executive ministry with the presbytery in 2011. So fast forward to April 2020. Lisa and I had just returned from an amazing cruise from Buenos Aries, Argentina to San Diego, California. I was following ‘stay at home’ orders as I sat at my desk, asking God, “What now? How do I use my gifts for your glory?” The result was an Apple Podcast series titled, “Encouraging Words from Charlie Gross.” Here’s the link: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/encouraging-words-from-charlie-gross/id1512036633

For non-Apple Podcast users, the episodes are also available, without any description, on my bare bones (no frills) website: http://charliegross.com The episodes are three to four minutes in length. They typically connect daily observations and ideas with God’s word and offer practical encouragement. At the end of July, I turned the first thirty-nine episodes (there are now forty-three) into a Kindle book and paperback, titled: Encouragement: hope for your path, published by Amazon. My hope and prayer is that the podcasts, Kindle book or paperback will encourage you along your path and offer real life connections to God’s eternal and encouraging word. As always,

Extravagant Blessings,
Charlie Gross

Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers they shall not overwhelm you. – Isaiah 43:1-2

Please join us in the Fall for three consecutive Tuesdays: September 22, September 29, and October 6 at 11:30 a.m. eastern/8:30 a.m. pacific. Each week we will hear theological, practical, and actionable perspectives. After the presentation a live Q&A session will follow – allowing additional time to share and learn further.

  • September 22: Hear from Eric Barreto of Princeton Theological Seminary on the Acts of the Apostles in the 21st century — imagination, vision, and creativity in responding to our call;
  • September 29: We will learn with consultant Bonnie Ives Marden about the ways in which faith shapes our financial health, and get practical tools for church financial management;
  • October 6: Rev. Bruce Reyes-Chow will provide perspectives on engaging congregations across generations, cultures, and ethnicity to imagine building the church for forward thinking funding and functioning.

A link to participate in the weekly events will be emailed to registrants a few days prior to each program.

Kairos Spiritual Direction Training Program Enrolling Now

The Parish Resource Center is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for a new cohort of the Kairos Spiritual Direction Training program. The next cohort for this two-year certificate program begins in January. This cohort will have a new emphasis on practicing spiritual kinship with those on the margins who have not had the opportunity or means to participate in spiritual direction. This focus grew out of PRC’s work in food insecurity, immigration, and restorative practices.

The training is designed not only for spiritual directors, but for all those who offer spiritual care and companionship. Through this course, students will learn and develop skills in deep listening and noticing the presence of God as they practice spiritual companionship.

The program is based on the Ignatian tradition and emphasizes in-person instruction and training nine weekends a year. PRC will continue to reassess as the situation changes and has the ability to move the program online on an as-needed basis.
There is an early bird discount of $500 if you register before November 1, 2020. You can find more information and apply online at parishresourcecenter.org/kairos.
