Transforming the lives of individuals of all ages with vision loss
News & Views April 2018

This month we would like to focus on the ways you can get involved with Future In Sight. From participating in our 15th Annual Walk for Sight, attending a youth or adult activity with a family member or friend, joining us at a community support event to volunteering your time as a community driver or in-home visitor - they all make a difference in the lives of those we serve!

As many of you know, this years marks our 15th annual Walk for Sight. This is a community-oriented, non-competitive walk in Concord, NH. The Walk is the organization's largest fundraiser of the year and serves to raise awareness of the advancements in medical care, therapies, treatments, and technology that can improve life for the growing number of people with vision loss. I encourage you to sign up today and join us in support of our mission to help those, of all ages, who are blind and visually impaired develop the skills necessary to live independently.

We recently reached out to several hundred of our active clients to gain a better understanding of their needs around transportation and daily living activities that might be supported by our volunteers. This survey revealed that nearly 50% of our clients would benefit from transportation support to attend doctor appointments, the grocery store or group programs in their neighborhood. These needs are most common in rural areas of the state but several cities in New Hampshire as well. Some of those areas in great need are Greater Concord, Manchester, Nashua, Keene and surrounding towns as well as dozens of small towns like Peterborough, Bradford, Conway, and Berlin to name just a few. If you live in or around these areas you have the opportunity to profoundly impact a life by volunteering your time to drive one or more of our clients  to necessary, routine events like grocery shopping. Something you and I take for granted every day. Please consider donating your time to support those we serve.

Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date on current events.

Thank you all for being a part of the Future In Sight family.

With gratitude,

Call for Volunteers

The role of volunteers is integral to the success of Future In Sight. With the enhancement of programs and services along with the many adult and youth activities we now provide, our need for volunteers has more than doubled. If you have the time we'd love to hear from you. Opportunities include in-house visitors, community drivers as well as special event volunteers. Volunteer as little, or as much, as YOUR time allows. Contact us to learn more!

Most recently, we were fortunate to have the volunteer services of students from Concord Christian Academy [pictured above] to help us with a variety of spring clean-up projects.  We are grateful for their service!
