Quilt Camp Was Great!
Wooden Bridge & Log Cabin
The Grounds Are Beautiful!

Lots of room to walk and talk or meditate and pray...Oh yea! and quilt and quilt and quilt...!

We stayed in Holt Lodge one of several places to stay. Our room had a great view. Ruth's classroom and the assembly hall were just 6 minutes walking distance from our room.

The assembly hall was where the 170 quilters, 20 teachers, 5 vendors, and support personnel met for assemblies and to vend.

Assemblies

Kelly Kouts & Three Of Her Baltimore Album Quilts
Every Night, except Tuesday, there were evening assemblies. On three of the nights there were drawings, awards and prizes. These prizes were in addition to the bag of goodies that everyone received when they checked in!

Show 'N Tell-Staying Connected

Wednesday night's was a special, informative talk by Kelly Kout on Baltimore Album quilts. It was quite inspirational.

Monday & Tuesday nights' were the show and tell from prior camps or any two items that you wanted. It was an exceptional show and tell!

Some of Ruth's Quilters
Thursday night's was the show and tell for the camp classes. It was a special time to show the progress thus far on the projects. It also was a great time for Ruth to get to hug her quilters.

It was very surprising because the electricity went out in the Ripley area [including the Cedar Lakes Convention Center]. Everyone went a little "nuts", but the electricity came back on 5 hours earlier than expected - right at 6:30 when the show and tell was scheduled to start!
Ruth's Two Classes

Ruth had two classes, each was two days long. The first was the Striated Star and the second was the Quilt of Many Colors.

About half of the quilters enrolled in both classes and the other half enrolled in only one of hers and one of another of the many classes.

The Striated Star focused on strip cutting and inset seams. The Quilt of Many Colors focused on making perfect corner triangles with the Perfect Corner Ruler as well as making a plethora of designs with just a few basic shapes.

The ladies were wonderful. As usual there were an array of types of quilters.

What Came Out Of It?

From my vantage point I made several observation:
  • People made friends
  • People learned and mastered new techniques
  • People were enjoying the experience
  • People were relaxed
  • We enjoyed being out in the natural setting.
We're going back this coming Spring! I would suggest that you do, too. If you haven't been before, then I would suggest you give the Quilt Camp At Cedar Lakes at try this April 2019.

Enjoy your blessings this day!
