Protecting and Advocating for the Rights of Texans with Disabilities Since 1977
May 2022 Newsletter:
We Advocate for People with Mental Illness
You probably know that May is Mental Health Month, but did you know that Disability Rights Texas (DRTx) is the protection and advocacy agency for Texans who have a mental health diagnosis? Since 1986, mental illness advocacy has been a focus for us, and it remains one of our top priorities.
We work to protect and advocate for the rights of people with mental illness at work, in the community, while receiving inpatient treatment, and more. A person with mental illness experiencing discrimination can contact us to apply for legal help. Also, we provide a number of self-advocacy resources to help people with mental illness understand their rights and advocate for themselves.
