Volunteer Bulletin: April 2020
Celebrating National Volunteer Month!
Our Volunteers Make a Difference!

We truly appreciate all your hard work and dedication serving the guests and clients of Eva's Village.

Thank you for being such an important part of our mission, helping to improve lives with compassion and dignity!
To our Volunteers: We miss you!
We hope you and your families are safe and well! We want you to know that we miss you and our Community Kitchen guests and our clients are missing you too! You are important members of our Village!

We want to stay in touch - to keep you informed and to share messages from staff who are continuing to serve our clients and guests. We invite you to click here to join our new Facebook Volunteers Group - an easy way to stay in touch with each other and with us during these uncertain times. We plan to send out Volunteer Bulletins regularly to share news and updates.
During this public health crisis, we have been working around the clock to continue vital services, wherever possible, while protecting the health, safety and welfare of each member of our Village: in our Community Kitchen, for our recovery and shelter residents, for our staff, and for you, our volunteers. While we have had to suspend in-person volunteering and cancel or postpone fundraising events, we want to assure you that:

WE'RE STILL HERE - feeding hungry people . . . On March 17, our Community Kitchen temporarily suspended sit-down dining and started distributing more than 400 meals 'to-go" Mondays-Fridays, with extra food given on Fridays to carry people through the weekend.

WE'RE STILL HERE - caring for nearly 250 residential clients in our halfway house and shelter programs, and we're continuing to provide peer recovery support and outreach to our outpatient clients.

Read more stories in the news about how we are continuing to deliver critical care and services during the pandemic.
Greetings from our Volunteer Coordinator

We are entering our third week here at Eva’s Village without our wonderful volunteers.   Missing our volunteers is not an emotion or feeling I want to get used to.  I really, really miss YOU!
There is a reason I believe I have the best job in the world - it is because I am the Volunteer Coordinator at Eva’s Village! The laughter, joy and inspiration I see you bring to our guests, staff and community helpers is palpable. We cannot put a number on the Community Kitchen guests whose dignity is restored when they are greeted by you!!!

Please know, when you come to Eva’s Village, you give a gift of hope.  You, the volunteers, are the reason behind the success of Eva’s Village.  I am so fortunate that over the past 3.5 years I have gotten to meet, and really get to know, so many extraordinary people. I continue to be excited and enthused to work with so many dedicated people – our Magnificent Mondays, Terrific Tuesdays, Wonderful Wednesdays, Thrilling Thursdays and Fantastic Fridays plus all of our volunteers who serve meals on weekends and those who work with clients in our Workforce Development!  Thank you for your commitment to our mission and our Village, and for treating every person with dignity and respect.
April is National Volunteer Appreciation month . As we all know group gatherings are not safe at this time,so we have postponed our annual volunteer appreciation event…but do not worry, we will be celebrating you soon. I am eager to see all of you again!

Please be safe and stay well!

Your support for our neighbors in need matters now, more now than ever.
