Run for A Seat on MCC’s Governing Board

MCC is looking for district residents to serve on its Governing Board. The Board, which is composed of volunteers elected by the community, sets policy, approves budgets and provides general oversight for Center programs and facilities. Board members have a unique opportunity to improve the quality of life for residents of Dranesville Small District 1A.

Three adult board seats and two youth board seats. Adults must be 18 years of age or older on May 20, 2023 (McLean Day 2023). Youth must be 15-17 years old on May 20, 2023—that is, born May 21, 2005, to May 20, 2008.

Term of Office:

Adults serve three-year terms; youths serve one-year terms.

All candidates must be residents of the MCC’s tax district (Dranesville Small District 1A). One youth candidate from the area served by Langley High School will be elected and one youth candidate from the area served by McLean High School will be elected. Youth candidates need not attend these schools but must run for the seat representing the school area in which they reside.

Candidate Petition:

Each candidate must obtain ten (10) signatures of endorsement from district residents and submit information about his or her candidacy for publication. For a youth candidate, the ten (10) required signatures must be from teens who are 15-17 years old on McLean Day.

Candidates may pick up Candidate Packets in person at MCC during business hours.
