Only THREE DAYS to go until our our Midland Walk at Emerson Park on Sunday, Sept. 22nd. Registration starts at 1pm and the Walk at 2 pm.
Then onto our Metro Detroit Walks on Saturday, September 28th at Kensington and Stony Creek Metroparks.

You don't want to miss out on the fun - while at the same time helping our Michigan ALS community!

Remember, our Walk 'n Rolls represent close to 50% of the funds we need to continue our programs like:

  • Respite Care
  • Augmentative and Assistive Communication Services
  • Equipment Loan Closet
  • Workshops and Seminars
  • Professional Social Work Services
  • (and more)!
Your participation makes the difference in our ability to continue and expand these services. It means so much to all of us here at ALS of Michigan, but most importantly our pALS and their families who benefit from your support.

If you haven't signed up yet, you still have time for all of the remaining Walks.  Just click here and get started.

We keep every dollar raised right here in Michigan helping our pALS and families as they "live" with ALS.

Thank you for making 2019 the BEST
Walk 'n Roll year ever!
EVERY WALKER/ROLLER CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Our Walks are a "TEAM EVENT", even if you are an individual or virtual participant.  What does that mean?

Everyone has the ability to raise donations from their network of family and friends.  It's easy to raise $100 or more from those you know.  So, if you are attending one of our Walks, we hope as a Walker, a Roller, or just there for the fun, we encourage you to strive to reach the $100 per person goal.

A team of 10 people should strive to hit $1,000.  A team of 50 people can easily reach $5,000.  Here are a few easy ideas to help you get there.  Try one or try them all.  We promise they work.  And the difference you make for our Michigan ALS community is incalculable.
  • Send out EMAILS/LETTERS - ask you circle of friends and family to make a donation - in any amount.  Be sure to include the link to your personal fundraising page on our Walk 'n Roll site.
  • Set up a Facebook Fundraiser that posts to your Facebook feed. Tell your Facebook friends why you are walking/rolling.  It's fun, it's easy and it works.  You can get started right here.
  • Have a small party, and ask those you invite to donate to your Walk 'n Roll Team.
AND DON'T FORGET ABOUT MATCHING GIFTS! Many employers match employee charitable donations. Not sure about your company.  Just email us at alsofmi@alsofmi.org and we will check for you.

Below are the most  Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS).  If you have others, feel free to contact Kim Graziosi at  kim@alsofmi.org or Paul Funk at  paul@alsofmi.orgg, or call us at 248-354-6100.
  • I can't make a Walk, can I still participate?
    • YES!!  You can sign up as a virtual Walker online here. And you can ask friends and family to donate to your Virtual Walk.  Plus, we will happily send you a commemorative T-shirt for the Walk. Just sign up here.
  • How long are the Walks?
    • All of our Walks are approximately 3 miles long.  They are all on paved paths and are wheelchair friendly.  You can choose to do the entire path or you can turn around at any point.
  • Are dogs allowed at the Walks?
    • YES! All of our locations are pet friendly.  However, pets MUST be on a leash, no longer than 6 feet at ALL TIMES.  Pets are NOT allowed on the beaches at Kensington or Stony Creek,.  Plus, we have ALS  Bandannas available at all of our Walks for your furry friend.
  • Who gets a T-shirt?
    • EVERYONE who attends one of our Walks receives a commemorative T-Shirt designed specifically for our event.  Virtual Walkers will also receive a T-shirt via mail. Your TEAM CAPTAIN will have a supply of T-shirts to hand out at the Walk. Look for your Team Sign and find your Team Captain. If a different size is needed or additional T-shirts are needed there will be a T-shirt table available. Sizes range from Youth Small to Adult XX-Large
  • Should I bring my donations to the Walk?
    • YES! If you received donations by check please bring them to the Walk with you. If you received cash, we would appreciate if you would convert cash to a check and bring it to the Walk.
  • Do I need to register when I arrive at the Walk?
    • We encourage EVERYONE to sign up online prior to the Walk.  That alleviates the need to register personally at the Walk.  Instead, you can just find your TEAM CAPTAIN and remit any donations to them. TEAM CAPTAINS will have T-shirts, too - so look for your Team Sign.
  • What will there be to eat at the Walk?
    • We will have a variety of  foods available prior to the Walk, and there will be different foods at different Walks ranging from pizzas to Coneys to sub sandwiches, Frito-Lay chips, and desserts. Water and juice boxes will be available as well.
  • Does it cost to park?
    • All of our locations EXCEPT for Emerson Park in Midland have a parking fee or park entrance fee. We suggest that you carpool with others that day.
  • Can I still get a "Trail Sign"?
    • Trail signs are available for all our Walks except Lansing at this time. Signs will be which placed along the walk route. This is a wonderful way to honor your favorite pALS. Signs cost $20.00 each. Please place your order no later than Friday, September 20th. Click here for a fillable form.

BAKING IS ENCOURAGED

Over the years our Walkers 'n Rollers have been treated to some of the yummiest baked goods around and we'd hate to disappoint them this year.

If you love to bake, we'd love to have you bring something to the Walk!

If you don't love to bake, no problem, we are in for store bought items too!

Just bring your favorite dessert to the Walk to share.
THANKS TO ALL WHO ATTENDED OUR LANSING WALK

As always, our Lansing Walk was a HUGE success with close to 350 participants.  We had sunshine, music (Thanks Uncle Marv!), food, and most importantly friendship.  Below are a few pictures from the day.  To view the rest of our pics, just visit our Facebook page here.
