There are often many barriers victims face when trying to make the brave decision to leave an abusive relationship and our current pandemic has made survivors even more vulnerable.
Adriana shares her experience making this difficult decision:
“Being trapped in isolation with my abuser, I was becoming more afraid as the abuse continued to escalate. It came to the point that I was so afraid for the safety of my children and myself, I left without money or a plan.
I am so thankful that I was connected to Human Options’ Second Step transitional housing program. It has been hugely beneficial - I have been able to limit the number of people we're in contact with, while still benefiting from being part of a community who are all experiencing the same thing, and accessing resources provided by Human Options.
I am really, really grateful to those who have supported Human Options during this pandemic. Living here has been life-changing for me and my kids.
