We Are Going!
Faith Development News Letter
There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.
-Mandy Hale

Greetings Families of FUUSB,
This May we explore the theme "Nurturing Beauty", and we are nurturing something truly beautiful as we build back our community and connection to each other this spring, a connection that was never broken but did perhaps wear thin in these pandemic years. I am overjoyed to have reconnected with so many of you in recent weeks, even those who I couldn't quite place after two years of growing and with masks on your faces. Covid is still with us, sickening some, and frustrating many attempts to be together as we wait out our sniffles and our days since exposure, and yet we are doing it, not simply returning to our old ways but building new traditions as we go.
Above you see the high school YUUth group helping to spread compost on what will be our native plants garden. As I write this, these same youth are braving some cold winds to be at a campfire together at Rockpoint, one of their new traditions, one that eighth graders are now invited to share as the Coming of Age Outdoor Intensive has it's kickoff on Sunday afternoon.
If you haven't made it back to a worship service, a Faith Development class, or an outdoor coffee hour, know that you are welcome to join us whenever you're ready to experience this beauty that we can only nurture together!
In Faith,
Erika

Postcards for the Pride Center!
You might have heard that last Monday night someone threw concrete blocks through the front door of the Pride Center. [VT Digger Article]

Community members are being asked to send postcards supporting their LGBTQ family and neighbors.

One person with two concrete blocks made the news headlines, showing hatred for and violence toward the LGBTQ community. We want the Pride Center to receive so many postcards of support that there can be a new news headline showing the hundreds of people who responded to hate and fear with love and compassion.
Send a formal postcard or just use an index card (it works!) and mail them to:

COTS WALK
It's not too late to join us in our mission to end homelessness!

Join Team FUUSB for the walk, which has shorter and longer versions to accomodate different walking abilities, and all of which end with music and ice cream!
Visit the COTS website to register, choose Team FUUSB and join us in Battery Park on Sunday!

The in-person Walk is on May 1st. Music and registration kicks off at 1 p.m. and the Walk begins at 2 p.m. The Walk will take you on a tour of seven shelters and facilities that COTS operates in Burlington. Each stop will educate you on the services provided there, as well as provide some entertainment with music and activities for all ages. Note: we will not be entering COTS shelter spaces, however we will have interactive features for all ages/ installations outside of each area.
