Illinois Route 176 Road Closure

ComEd's overhead power line burial project is moving forward at the corner of Route 176 and Route 45! This important infrastructure improvement will enhance the reliability and resiliency of the electric system while improving the appearance of the corridor for years to come.

As with any major construction project, there will be temporary road closures and traffic impacts.

IL Route 176 Closure

August 5 – August 28, 2026

ComEd will close Illinois Route 176 from Route 45 east to the railroad tracks to complete the underground utility work. A small section of Seymour Avenue will also be closed during this phase. A signed detour will direct motorists to Winchester Road. Because this closure will last for approximately three weeks, drivers should plan for additional travel time and consider alternate routes whenever possible.

Peterson Road to Close at Canadian National Railway Crossing from August 10-14

The Canadian National Railway will be closing the railroad crossing on Peterson Road, west of US Route 45, for crossing repairs. The closure of the crossing will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, August 10. Peterson Road should reopen to thru traffic during the late afternoon on Friday, August 14.

DETOUR ROUTE: Midlothian Road to Winchester Road to US Route 45. Local traffic will be allowed from Midlothian Road to Franklin Boulevard and from US Route 45 to Industrial Drive.
