Quote of the Day

"People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care."

- John C. Maxwell

To me, this is the epitome
of servant leadership.  If people know you care, they will forgive occasional flaws in your
leadership.  A parent
is the best example of a leader. Without care and compassion,
all instruction is empty.
Be a servant first in order
to become a leader.

A+ Foundation for West Aurora Schools has selected the Community Foundation as its most recent "Friends of A+ Foundation" recipient.  The Community Foundation will receive its award at the annual gala on April 12.  In addition to its endowment fund, the A+ Foundation also has a pass-through fund at the Community Foundation.

Two weeks later on April 26, the Community Foundation will receive the "Golden Heart Award" in recognition of its long-standing philanthropic support of TriCity Family Services' mission and the people it serves.  The award will be presented at the Golden Heart Award Ceremony at the Lincoln Inn in Batavia.

The Community Foundation is humbled and honored to be recognized by these two outstanding organizations.  It is only because of the work of our local not-for-profits that the Community Foundation can fulfill its mission of helping donors exceed their charitable objectives.

CF Selects OnLight Aurora
"Doing Our Part" Initiative to Focus on Connecting our Communities

Over the past few months, the Community Foundation and the Dunham Fund have been collaborating on an initiative that will address some of our communities' most pressing issues.  Feedback was collected from constituents throughout our service area and the responses were wide-ranging.  It is clear to see that the individuals who live and work within our communities truly care about all of the issues facing our residents and the services provided by our outstanding not-for-profit organizations.  It became very difficult to focus on one single issue.

To that end, the Community Foundation and the Dunham Fund began brainstorming how this initiative could benefit not just one community issue or organization, but numerous organizations throughout our service area.

The Community Foundation and the Dunham Fund have partnered with OnLight Aurora to provide more dependable, higher quality internet and communication capabilities to both not-for-profit agencies and for-profit businesses throughout our communities - not to mention at a lower cost to the organizations!

We are very excited to see how partnering with OnLight Aurora will positively impact the numerous businesses in our communities and will propel the missions of our not-for-profits forward for years to come.

Please contact the Community Foundation today to learn how you can add OnLight Aurora to your organization for a fraction of the cost.

100 Years and Counting!
Congratulations to the Juvenile Protective Association

This year the Juvenile Protective Association (JPA) turned 100 years old as an organization. The Community Foundation was honored to be a part of the anniversary celebration on February 23 at Reuland's Food Service in Aurora.  To help celebrate the event, the Community Foundation produced a video on the history of the JPA. Congratulations to the JPA for protecting our communities' most vulnerable residents for the past 100 years.
