God has put the body together,
there should be no division in the body, its
parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

June 2, 2013
Greetings!

I am excited to be attending the CORPUS conference in NJ this weekend with keynote speakers: Sr. Simone Campbell, Executive Director of NETWORK, A National Catholic Social Justice Lobby come to be known as "Nuns on the Bus" and John Shelby Spong , Episcopal Bishop Emeritus of Newark, NJ and author of Christian doctrine reform and progressive Christianity writings. Sr. Simone has invited us to "swim in the sea of God where all gifts are part of the One Body" and Bp. Spong has challenged us to evolve from the explanations of God encased in 1st, 4th and 9th century antiquated Christian doctrines to 21st century experiences of God from an expanded universal consciousness where we all belong to the Holy One. Rooted in St. Paul's letters to Corinthians and Romans, we are to honor, respect, love and be the "one body, though, many parts" each with our gift of the Spirit.

As we celebrate today The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, their message couldn't be timelier ! When we choose to receive Jesus' gift of his life, ministry and teaching that heals, nourishes and satisfies in abundance, we are transformed by our "Amen" into being that same gift for others. Teresa of Avila 1515-1582) writes,

Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks
Compassion on this world,

Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feet,
Yours are the eyes, you are his body.

May all of us grow into being more fully the Body of Christ living eucharistic lives for the sake of others. This eucharistic living is the visible sign of the kingdom of God. Our commission is to go be bread to the world!

Eucharistic Blessings,
Rev Rosa

Faith In Action
Our food contribution this month to The Wellesley Food Pantry continues to be Spaghetti (not pasta - simply spaghetti) and White Rice ( preferably in small bags not boxed). Please infor Donna Marie if you can help make a delivery on Monday mornings 9:00-10:30am once a month.

West Suburban Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bi/Trans Gender Youth (WAGLY) will break into small group discussions on current issues this Monday, June 3. Come see what the buzz is all about! Help spread the word that the group exists and is making a difference to teenage GLBTQ youth in the Metrowest area (and surrounding 37 cities and towns) who might be looking for a social networking group!

FAMILY PROMISE Metrowest is a community response initiative for families that are homeless. Through faith communities and countless community resources the organization is able to provide temporary shelter, meals, job networking, skills training, childcare and more throughout the year to help these families get back onto solid ground. Holy Spirit is a support congregration of our host church, Unitarian Universalist Society of Wellesley Hills.

Holy Spirit members volunteer at these programs throughout the year. Note, training is required if you think you might like to become involved. The next training is Tuesday 6/4 at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church 207 Washington Street, Wellesley. Speak to Debbie Packard or Rev Rosa for details. Mission Statement

We are People of God baptized in Christ and professing our faith in a living Catholic tradition. We are men and women, lay and ordained, joining together as a "communion of communities" in response to the messianic call of the Spirit to preach the Gospel of liberation and justice; to offer a refuge in Christ for those who suffer prejudice; to stand open to dialogue with others so called and, to conform our lives to the life and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

When we see
the body of Christ
still broken
in this world,
may we meet it
with lavish grace
and pour ourselves out
with extravagant love.
