Dear Founders,

Last Saturday night, I was privileged to go to Heart in West Hollywood and participate in the celebration of Rev. Troy Perry being named a Hero of the Year by the LA Blade. We all know that Rev. Troy is a major mover and shaker in the history of the LGBTQ movement since the 1960s, not only by founding this congregation (which turned into a worldwide denomination, revolutionizing CHURCH for the masses), but by co-founding the first-ever Pride parade, suing the government to help legalize same-sex marriage, and...the list goes on. Thank you to all who came to share in the experience last Saturday!

As you probably know, I made a trip back home this week to be with family. One of my two remaining aunts had a stroke, and we knew her time was short. I got to her just a few hours before she passed away, and I was standing by her side when she peacefully transitioned from this life to the next. Thank you for all your prayers and support during this experience.

This weekend, we have the privilege of celebrating the ministry of our favorite Spanish-speaking minister, Rev. Alejandro Escoto. Rev. Alejandro has been on staff at FMCC for more than 20 years! Not only has he ministered to us over the years, but he has become the "Pastor of the Spanish-speaking community in Los Angeles." It has been a joy to work with Rev. Alejandro, and I can say already that I truly miss him. Well done, Rev. Alejandro! Thank you for "saying 'yes'" to your calling from God!

Last Sunday, the Spirit once again moved in our worship. I'm so thankful that we come to a church where the Spirit moves freely among us, and we can feel that Spirit! I look forward to being in worship with you again this Sunday! The message this week is entitled, We Are The World. If you'd like to read ahead, check out Mark 1:29-39 (Voice Version). I'm showing up expecting a blessing from the Spirit once again. I hope you are, too!

Change In Covid-19 Protocols
As we continue to cope with Covid-19, we are changing our protocols. The new protocols are in line with the rest of LA County. Until further notice, here are our guidelines:

1. We will no longer require vaccinations and boosters for church attendance, though we highly encourage them.
2. We will make wearing masks optional. Please feel free to continue wearing masks as you feel comfortable.

3. We ask people that have symptoms of (or tested positive for) Covid, flu, monkeypox, or any other easily communicable disease to please refrain from attending until they are well.

As we have from the very beginning of the pandemic, we will continue to keep in line with the advice of the LA County Public Health Department. Thank you so much for your patience as we navigate new guidelines.
