We are ready to dig in and get dirty!

We are preparing to begin grading and pouring the slab for our greenhouse! We could use a lot of clean fill dirt for the project. If you or a contractor friend has clean fill you need a home for, please let us know. We would love to take it off your hands!

We are located right on Central Avenue in McKinleyville. Reach out and let us know: Hello@WeAreUp.org

With Gratitude to Our Supporters

RISE (Realizing Interdependent Success and Empowerment)

RISE is a client‑led advocacy group that advises RCRC on programs and interests that benefit the people they serve. RISE generously donated funds to support greenhouse supplies, service design, and training for two new positions at We Are Up. These supplies allow us to maintain our gardens and greenhouse while offering volunteers and staff the tools they need to keep us growing.

Two new jobs and more support = Win Win for all!

Flexible funding keeps progress moving

Empowering People and Strengthening Communities

The McLean Foundation

Since 2000, the McLean Foundation has supported nonprofits throughout Humboldt County. Their $3,000 discretionary grant is especially valuable because it allows us to fund projects that are most important to our progress and future growth.

The Hoo-Hoo Club

Since 1892, The Hoo-Hoo Club has been building community through partnerships. The Humboldt chapter recently awarded We Are Up a $2,000 grant and introduced us to some inspiring new partners.

Celebrating Success

Special Olympics athletes creating memories and bringing home medals

Special Olympics Humboldt

8 vans, 6 cars, 20 coaches, and 40 athletes traveled to Anderson, CA for a basketball tournament in March, returning home with vans full of medals—and even more lasting memories from the dinner and dance. This incredible group is truly worthy of our support and celebration!

Did you know? There are 200 families in McKinleyville alone who are Regional Center Clients? The percentage of people with an I/DD in Humboldt County, 21%, is significantly higher than the national average of 15%. Yet access to services is limited in our rural community, further increasing the impact on caregivers, family and friends, on whom many persons with disabilities rely. We Are Up aims to address this impact by providing opportunity, inclusion, and better health and well-being outcomes for residents and the community as a whole.

With Gratitude,

Mary Keehn and the We Are Up Board
