Greetings from Walther!

We have some exciting news to share: Walther's enrollment is growing! We are pleased to announce that over the past two years, our student enrollment has gone up an amazing 25%. We currently have 289 students at Walther, 239 in the High School and 50 in our Middle School (Grades 6-8). This is the largest student body since 2018, when we had a large number of Luther North seniors join us for their last year of high school. God has richly blessed us with more families looking for the academic excellence and spiritual growth that we offer. If you know of anyone who has high school aged children, please tell them about Walther! We have an Open House on Thursday October 27th at 7:00pm at Walther, which is an excellent opportunity to see our school, meet our teachers, and learn more about what Walther has to offer!

In other news, our recent Homecoming and Alumni Weekend activities were great reminders about how special our Walther family is. Our current students enjoyed a spirited Spirit Week, in which they dressed up in different “2000’s” themed outfits and decorated the hallways with CDs and “Y2K” banners. The week culminated, as always, with Christian Service Day, in which all of our 288 students participated in service activities before crowning our Homecoming King and Queen. In a new twist, we had Friday’s Campfire on the football field…featuring an actual campfire!

The weekend was also an opportunity for our alumni to return to see how Walther is thriving and to experience all that Homecoming weekend had to offer. We are appreciative of everyone who joined us!

May God bless your fall,

Dear Walther Alumni and Friends,

Walther Christian Academy is a very special place, and our Homecoming weekend was a reminder that so many students, both past and current, are grateful for how Walther has changed their lives.

On Saturday September 24, Walther hosted the Erin Stanley Memorial softball game, and Head of School Tim Bouman and I hosted the annual coffee hour and and alumni chapel where we heard from our current music students led by teachers Samantha Rose, Lori Boyer and Cheldon White. Two of our current star students Nery Espinoza and Kilee Wilkens spoke about their time at Walther and all of the activities available to participate in. And, although Walther did not win the homecoming game against Christ the King, we had our annual alumni march, the band sounded wonderful, our cheerleaders did a fine job, and great food was provided by our Booster Club parents.

At Walther, we depend on our community, our partners, our donors and our alumni to fill the financial gap that tuition alone doesn’t cover. One of our strong supporters is the Chicagoland Lutheran Educational Foundation led by its Executive Director, Janet Klotz. Doris Christopher, our board chair, Tim Bouman and I were honored to represent Walther at a dinner hosted by Concordia University Chicago that celebrated Janet, the recipient of their first ever One Heart Award, for her commitment to Lutheran education. Our buses with the combined signage of Walther and CLEF are just one example of how CLEF supports our school.

Our enrollment is growing, but there is still room for YOUR student. Please check our website for upcoming Open House dates and join us to learn what we are all about!

Enjoy fall and the cooler weather, everyone! And enjoy the photos of Homecoming Weekend 2022!
